Cody & Aleister
SmackDown from Greenville kicked off with Cody Rhodes recapping his win over Drew McIntyre this past weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Rhodes called McIntyre the most self-sabotaging pro wrestler in the history of the business, and he was moving on. He said he was going to sit in the crowd tonight, and they could all decide together who was next in line for the WWE Championship. This brought out Aleister Black and Zelina Vega.
Black said that he had a chip on his shoulder the size of the WWE title. Vega said that Cody’s nightmare begins now, and she slapped him. Nick Aldis appeared and, once again, had no main event for the evening; thus, he decided to make Cody Rhodes vs. Aleister Black official for later tonight.
"Your nightmare begins now…"

United States Championship Open Challenge
Backstage, Tama Tonga approached Ilja Dragunov and stared him down. Dragunov went to the ring and wondered who his opponent would be this week. Tommaso Ciampa appeared and complained about being denied by Dragunov last week in favor of Nathan Frazer. Dragunov teased accepting Ciampa’s challenge, but then revealed he would face Johnny Gargano instead.

Gargano took it to Dragunov, nailing him with an incredibly stiff-looking kick to the back of his head, and followed that up with a Poisonrana for a near fall. Dragunov regained control when Candice LeRae got involved, giving Gargano another near fall. Dragunov then hit a Superplex, followed by the H-Bomb on Gargano to pick up the win.
Later backstage, Fraxiom mocked DIY for their issues with Dragunov, calling Ciampa a jackass.

Backstage, Sami Zayn approached Nick Aldis and again asked to be at ringside for Rey Fenix’s match against Talla Tonga. Aldis reiterated that Zayn was not medically cleared and said he wasn’t asking. R-Truth then appeared and inquired about the tumbler being used for the John Cena The Last Time is Now Tournament. Truth wanted to have his name in the mix, but Aldis revealed he was already in there.
Jade Cargill & Charlotte Flair?
The new WWE Women’s Champion came down to the ring and said, “You all saw what happened to Tiffany. That goes for everyone in the locker room. I’m that bitch,” and went to leave when she crossed paths with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, making their way to the ring.

Chelsea Green (sporting her new AAA Mixed Tag title) was approached by B-Fab and Michin, who said Green could never beat Giulia. Green started cutting a promo saying that she was going to be the greatest SmackDown champion ever when Jade Cargill appeared and said she would stomp a hole through Chelsea’s chest. Chelsea ran off and then squared off with B-Fab, setting up a match between the two for next week.
Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax
Next up was Nia Jax facing off against Charlotte Flair with Alexa Bliss in her corner. This match was mostly all Flair until Jax reversed a big boot into a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Jax set up for the Annihilator but missed. Lash Legend then appeared at ringside, attacking Alexa Bliss. This distracted Flair, allowing Jax to hit the Annihilator for the win.
Later, Jax and Legend were interviewed, and Jax said she found a friend, unlike Charlotte and Alexa. Legend said they were going straight to the top and stormed off.

In a pre-produced segment, Nick Aldis revealed the next names drawn for the John Cena tournament. It will be The Miz vs. Jey Uso and LA Knight vs. an opponent that Aldis refused to name.

Women’s United States Championship
The next match was Giulia defending her United States Championship against Chelsea Green. Ethan Page was seen ringside, and it was noted that Green and Page were the AAA Mixed Tag Champions and Page was the NXT North American Champion. Giulia dominated the early portion of the match, with Kiana James getting involved and getting taken out by Alba Fyre. Green rolled up Giulia and won out of nowhere in under two minutes. Chelsea celebrated with Ethan Page and Alba Fyre in the crowd.

Backstage, MFT was hyping themselves up when Solo Sikoa entered, saying that Ilja Dragunov had something that belonged to their family. He turned his attention to Talla Tonga and instructed him to smash Rey Fenix tonight. As they walked off, the Wyatt Sicks (minus Bo Dallas) appeared, but Erick Rowan told them all, “not yet”.
In the dumbest segment of the night, Alexa and Charlotte were backstage icing their wounds from the Jax & Legend attack when The Kabuki Warriors, wearing doctors’ outfits, appeared and spat poison mist into their eyes. And to clarify, Asuka had her whole face makeup on, so it was clearly visible despite her wearing a surgical mask.
Rey Fenix vs. Talla Tonga
As MFT were coming to the ring, Motor City Machine Guns and Shinsuke Nakamura jumped them and brawled to the back, leaving just Talla Tonga and Solo Sikoa. Rey Fenix attempted to get the jump on Tonga, but the power of Talla quickly turned it around.

Tonga continued to dominate through the commercial break until finally Fenix started mounting a comeback. That ended when Tonga hit a powerbomb and a chokeslam for the win. After the match, Tonga went to continue his assault on Fenix when Sami Zayn ran down to make the save.

The Miz was asked about facing Jey Uso next week, and he brought up beating John Cena in the main event at WrestleMania, saying he would retire Cena.
Cody Rhodes vs. Aleister Black
The (hastily booked) main event of the evening was Cody Rhodes taking on Aleister Black with Zelina Vega. As one might expect, Vega made her presence known, getting involved in the match early on. Rhodes twice attempted to hit the Cross Rhodes, but Black thwarted each. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, Drew McIntyre ran in and hit a Claymore on the referee. Black and McIntyre teamed up on Rhodes until Damian Priest made the save. All four started brawling when Black went after Priest’s bad eye. Black and Vega then escaped through the crowd, and Nick Aldis appeared, announcing that Drew McIntyre was suspended. No bell ever rang, so this match is still ongoing. Hopefully, we’ll receive an update next week on the winner.
