Ángel de Oro and Niebla Roja of CMLL are the new NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions.

They defeated TJP and Templario at CMLL’s Super Viernes event in Arena México on Friday.

The near-15-minute match concluded after Templario suffered an apparent right leg injury and could not continue. Following the stoppage, TJP raised the hands of the new champions, known together as Los Hermanos Chavez.

TJP and Templario won the championships at NJPW Resurgence on May 9, 2025. All of their title defenses took place in CMLL. NJPW has not run events in the United States during the second half of the year, but will return in February 2026 with The New Beginning USA in Trenton, NJ.

Also on Friday night, CMLL announced matches featuring AEW talent for its November 21 event. Beast Mortos will face Komander in a singles match.

This marks the third singles match between the two, with Mortos holding a 2-0 record. It is his first singles contest in CMLL since July.

Additionally, JetSpeed (Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight) will compete in Arena México for the first time. They are scheduled to face Mascara Dorada and Neon.

Friday’s event was the third consecutive sellout for the promotion, with over 16,000 fans in attendance. The show featured a Linkin Park theme.
