Ric Flair’s absence during last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Greensboro, North Carolina, was due to an injury, he recently explained.
It was teased prior to last week’s “Blood & Guts” AEW TV special that wrestling stars Flair and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat would be in attendance for the event. While both were at the show, only Steamboat appeared on the official broadcast as part of an in-ring angle with tag team FTR.
A recent statement from Flair on the social media platform X possibly explains why he didn’t appear during the segment:
I Want To Apologize To Everyone For Having To Leave The @AEW Show Early Last Wednesday Due To My Rotator Cuff Injury. I Appreciate @TonyKhan Giving Me The Opportunity To Be On The Show. It Was Nice Catching Up With All The Great Talent And Ricky Steamboat. I Look Forward To Being… pic.twitter.com/sxGkBmRcET

I Want To Apologize To Everyone For Having To Leave The @AEW Show Early Last Wednesday Due To My Rotator Cuff Injury. I Appreciate @TonyKhan
Giving Me The Opportunity To Be On The Show. It Was Nice Catching Up With All The Great Talent And Ricky Steamboat. I Look Forward To Being Invited Again. After I Have My Shoulder Healed Up, I Will Be Back Up & Running. I Just Want You All To Know That I Would Never Disappoint You Intentionally.
Flair has made numerous appearances in AEW over the years. He had a deal with the promotion from 2023 to late 2024 as part of a partnership to promote his Wooooo! Energy drink previously. He made an appearance back in May as part of a tribute to former WCW wrestler Steve McMichael.
