New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo surprisingly found himself facing criticism after his appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw this week.
NFL rookie 23-year-old Skattebo, who was placed on the injured list late last month due to a dislocated ankle, made an on-screen appearance during Monday night’s episode of Raw inside Madison Square Garden.
Alongside comedian Andrew Schultz, Skattebo went face-to-face with WWE’s Judgement Day faction, causing a brief shoving match to take place between the two groups.

The appearance, while brief, caused some NFL commentators to criticize his appearance, some expressing concern about him doing a slight amount of physicality while nursing an injury. Among those critics was Michael Strahan, who argued that he did enough to “really get hurt” during the exchange.
Skattebo took to social media to defend his appearance, saying that he was just doing something to keep a positive attitude during his time away from football.
Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find…

“Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on,” Skattebo said in a recent post to social media platform X. “I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say.”
Skattebo isn’t the only New York athlete to be featured on WWE programming in recent years. A 2024 episode of Smackdown in MSG featured Knicks player Jalen Brunson alongside Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, who had a face-off in the ring with LA Knight and Logan Paul.
In a nod to his WWE involvement, Brunson replied to Skattebo’s social media post this week with a GIF of Adam “Edge” Copeland.
