Viewership and ratings for the first night of the NXT ‘Gold Rush’ special at The Theater at Madison Square Garden rose to their highest point since mid-October.
The November 18 episode averaged 650,000 viewers and a 0.11 rating in the P18-49 demographic on The CW, according to Programming Insider and Wrestlenomics.
The figures represent a significant increase from the previous week’s episode, which drew 554,000 viewers and a 0.07 rating in the 18-49 key demographic. Overall viewership was up 17% while the demo rating jumped 57%.
This was the show’s strongest performance in both categories since October 14. That episode drew 690,000 viewers and a 0.12 rating.
The show from New York City was headlined by a title change, as Jacy Jayne defeated Tatum Paxley to win the NXT Women’s Championship. The finish saw Paxley betrayed by her stablemate Izzi Dame.
In the opening match, AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions Ethan Page and Chelsea Green retained their titles against Joe Hendry and Thea Hail.
Elsewhere on the card, Blake Monroe retained the NXT Women’s North American Championship over Sol Ruca after Ruca’s partner, Zaria, threw in the towel to stop the match. DarkState’s Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin also retained the NXT Tag Team Championships against Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater.
The second night of ‘Gold Rush’ was taped immediately following the live broadcast and will air next Tuesday, November 25.
