The largest Survivor Series in history has topped 41,000 tickets distributed.
The latest figure from WrestleTix lists 41,001 tickets out for the event (a combination of tickets sold and comps) at Petco Park in San Diego, California.
It represents the first time Survivor Series has been hosted inside a stadium, with the prior thirty-eight versions taking place in arena-sized locations.
Wrestlenomics reported this past July that the Survivor Series is backed by a $5 million budget. The San Diego Tourism Marketing District approved $650,000 to go toward landing the event. Records obtained by Wrestlenomics listed $4.25 million in additional expenses related to the Survivor Series in addition to the fee.
The $5 million figure would place this behind this past August’s two-night SummerSlam in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and WrestleMania 38 in Arlington, Texas, as the most lucrative for WWE.
The Survivor Series launched in November 1987 as the company’s second annual pay-per-view, joining WrestleMania, and has been a yearly event since its inception.
The show at Petco Park will feature a men’s and women’s WarGames match, John Cena’s second-to-last match, and Stephanie Vaquer defending the Women’s World Championship against Nikki Bella.
