Women’s Tag Team Championship

AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming kicked off with the final match in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament. The last two teams remaining were the Timeless Love Bombs, Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa, taking on The Babes of Wrath, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron. The crowd quickly broke into a split chant between Willow and Toni Storm as both teams split control of the match.

After a commercial break, Toni Storm got the hot tag and took it to both Willow and Harley. Mina then took over, applied the Figure Four to Cameron, and both teammates reversed their partners in the submission. This led to all four women in the ring and Toni hitting the Storm Zero on Cameron, but Willow made the save. Cameron recovered and hit her Finishing Move, followed up by Willow hitting The Babe with the Powerbomb for the win.

After the match, the new champions were interviewed by Renee Paquette and celebrated their win, with Toni and Mina looking on dejected. The Timeless Love Bombs then shook the champions’ hands as the segment ended.

The Opps cut a backstage promo with Samoa Joe, saying that he was the real “him” and that Eddie Kingston was in his way.

After a commercial, Jon Moxley cut a backstage promo with almost all of the Death Riders behind him. He said that his back was up against the wall in the Continental Classic, but he dared anyone to count him out. Daniel Garcia took over the promo, saying they were the hungriest group in professional wrestling.

Continental Classic Gold League Match

The next match of the evening was Jungle Jack Perry taking on Kazuchika Okada. This was Perry’s first match in the tournament, replacing the not-cleared Darby Allin. Renee Paquette did a cut-in, noting that this was Jack Perry’s first singles match in over a year. Perry came out of the gates hot, gaining an early advantage on Okada. Perry seemed to tweak his ankle or lower leg early in the match as the show went to an ad break. Upon return, things went back and forth with Perry avoiding the Rainmaker twice in a row and Perry getting a near fall after a running knee.

Perry applied the Snare Trap, but Okada bit Perry’s hand to escape. Okada then set Perry up for the Tombstone, but Perry bit his crotch to escape (yes, you read that right). He then hit a Rainmaker but went for a second and missed. Okada then hit a tiltawhirl backbreaker and another Rainmaker for the win.

A small portion of the Don Callis Family entered the ring, and Callis offered Perry a spot in the DCF as well as a signing bonus out of the Young Bucks’ money. Perry responded by attacking the Family, but was quickly overwhelmed before Luchasaurus ran down and paused before entering the ring. This allowed the Young Bucks to sneak up from behind and take out the whole family with chairs. The Bucks hit the BTE trigger on Okada, and then Takeshita saved Callis from a superkick. The Bucks ended the segment with the bag of cash in hand.

Backstage, the Conglomeration was celebrating with The Babes of Wrath as well as the Timeless Love Bombs. Elsewhere backstage, Eddie Kingston said that today was the fiftieth anniversary of Terry Funk winning the world title. Kingston said he was trying to be cool about it, but it was hard not to be emotional, as he was 0-2 in AEW World title matches.

Mark Briscoe & Daniel Garcia

Tony Schiavone interviewed TNT Champion Mark Briscoe in the ring, who addressed his challenger, Daniel Garcia, at Collision Winter is Coming from Cardiff, Wales, this Saturday. This brought out Garcia and Yuta. Garcia called Briscoe “sad,” and he was going to break his leg on Saturday. Briscoe told Garcia to make his move, so Garcia knocked the mic out of his hand. Then, for some reason, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir held Garcia back from attacking, and the heels took off.

Backstage, The Triangle of Madness was pummeling extras when Kris Statlander appeared and nailed them with a chair before they ran off.

Tornado Tag Team Match

Next, 2/3 of the AEW Trios Champions, Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata, faced off against Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland in a tornado tag team match. Hangman and Swerve entered from the crowd, brandishing a chain and a staple gun. The Opps sent the Dojo after them in the crowd, but Page and Strickland took them all out. Shibata and Hobbs then followed into the crowd, and a brawl broke out, with a split screen showing all the action. It was noted that the match hadn’t begun as all four competitors hadn’t entered the ring.

Hangman put Hobbs through a table, chugged a beer, and Shibata and Swerve went back and forth, and finally the bell rang with Hangman holding a chair. The referee took the chair away as the announce team explained that weapons were not allowed now that the match had officially begun. The action continued, and Shibata hit a low blow on Hangman behind the referee’s back. Shibata then applied an armbar, but Swerve hit the Swerve Stomp to break it up.

Hangman and Swerve then hit a series of double-team moves and stared at each other intensely, following that up by powerbombing Hobbs through a table at ringside. The face team finished Shibata off with a Buckshot Lariat, followed by a Housecall. After the match, Josh Alexander was shown watching from the back and, for some reason, had a small drop of blood running down the side of his head.

Don Callis made a challenge to the Young Bucks and a partner of their choosing for the $1 Million. Don’s choices for his team seemed to be Takeshita, Okada, and Hechicero. Stokely cut a backstage promo announcing that the Bang Bang Gang would get their Tag title shot at FTR next Wednesday on Dynamite from Manchester, England.

Continental Classic Gold League Match

Next was the second of two C2 matchups, with Speedball Mike Bailey taking on Kyle Fletcher. The crowd chanted for both Speedball and Fletcher equally as the match began. The two went back and forth with high-flying moves until Fletcher slammed Bailey on his back on the barricade in a brutal-looking spot. After a commercial, Bailey and Fletcher were still going at full speed, and several near falls that the crowd was biting on.

Bailey had the most significant near-fall of the night after hitting the Ultima Weapon. Speedball then missed another attempt to the outside, his knees smashing into the floor. Fletcher then hit his Sheer Drop Brainbuster, but Bailey kicked out. Justin Roberts announced that only one minute remained, and Bailey shocked Fletcher by rolling Fletcher up after crossing his arms, scoring the pinfall.

Hangman Page was interviewed backstage, and he said he was coming for whoever wins between Joe and Eddie tonight. The Young Bucks then responded to Don Callis’ challenge, and Luchasaurus turned them down but pointed them toward Kenny Omega’s locker room. Omega agreed but said he didn’t want the money.

AEW World Championship

The main event of the evening was the world title match between Eddie Kingston and Samoa Joe, accompanied by Hook. The match began at 9:54 pm, so there was likely going to be a significant overrun. Hook interfered early and was immediately thrown out by referee Paul Turner. Joe dominated the early portion of the match, with Kingston fighting from underneath.

Kingston continued to try to take Joe down and survive all of Joe’s offense. Joe then locked Eddie in the STF and saluted the camera in a possible nod to John Cena. Eddie recovered, hitting a DDT on Joe, and followed that up with an attempt at the Spinning Backfist. Joe ducked it and locked in the Coquina Clutch, forcing Kingston to tap out.
