A champion-versus-champion match between Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi ended in a disqualification after interference from Drew McIntyre.

Opening Saturday Night’s Main Event from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., the match marked the main roster in-ring debut for NXT Champion Oba Femi. Femi recently regained the NXT title at Deadline and defended it on the preceding episode of NXT.

The contest was a physical encounter that saw Femi utilize his strength advantage with backbreakers and spinebusters. During a brawl on the floor, Femi delivered a running European uppercut over the commentary desk.

The spot left Rhodes bleeding profusely from the ear. Despite the damage, Rhodes returned to the ring and countered a pop-up powerbomb attempt into a Cody Cutter.

Before a pinfall could be counted, Drew McIntyre entered the ring and attacked Rhodes, causing the referee to call for the bell. Femi took exception to the interruption and shoved McIntyre to the canvas.

Rhodes delivered a Cody Cutter to McIntyre, which was followed by a chokeslam from Femi. The segment concluded with the two champions shaking hands and raising each other’s arms.
