Zack Sabre Jr. and Ryohei Oiwa defeated Yota Tsuji and Gabe Kidd to win the 2025 World Tag League final on Sunday.

The tournament concluded at Gran Messe Kumamoto, where the TMDK duo bested the team representing War Dogs and Unaffiliated. Sabre and Oiwa advanced to the final with eight points, while the opposing team topped the A Block with 10 points.

The main event lasted over 32 minutes and featured a blend of technical wrestling and brawling. Kidd seemed to lose a tooth during a strike exchange in the latter half of the match.

After Sabre saved his partner from a double-team “War Blaster” maneuver, Oiwa capitalized on the opening. He delivered The Grip lariat to pin Kidd and secure the trophies.

Oiwa addressed the crowd after the match, stating that he is a “main character” rather than an NPC. He credited his time in TMDK for his improvement.

The result likely establishes a challenge for the IWGP Tag Team Championships held by the Knockout Brothers (Yuto-Ice and Oskar) at Wrestle Kingdom 20.

Earlier, El Phantasmo retained the NJPW World TV Championship to open the show. He defeated Hartley Jackson, who answered an open challenge for the title. Phantasmo secured the victory with the Thunder Kiss ’86 after 11 minutes.

The NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championships were defended by Toru Yano, YOH, and Master Wato. They defeated the House of Torture trio of EVIL, Ren Narita, and SANADA. The match initially ended in a no-contest due to interference but was restarted by officials. YOH eventually pinned SANADA with a schoolboy to retain the titles.

A disqualification ended the match between David Finlay and Hiromu Takahashi against Great-O-Khan and Callum Newman. Newman used a chair, sparking a post-match brawl.

Following the fight, Newman challenged Finlay to a 10-man tag team match at Wrestle Kingdom and announced that HENARE would return for the event.
