An awkward ending to the Women’s North American title match resulted in a new champion being crowned on NXT.

Tuesday’s live episode saw Thea Hail become champion after pinning Blake Monroe and leaving most people confused over the ending.

Hail bounced off the bottom rope and landed on top of Monroe with a senton and proceeded to cover her for a three-count. Monroe was attempting to raise her arm to convey that her shoulder was up, but the referee counted three.

No music played at first, then they played Monroe’s music before cutting it, and announcing Hail as the new champion.

Booker T. blamed the referee for a “bad call” when the replay was shown, but the title change stood.
