RESULTS:
- Bear Bronson wins a 20-man battle royal for a TNA Championship shot on January 1
- Lei Ying Lee & Xia Brookside over Tessa Blanchard & Mila Moore
- Steel Cage Match: Team TNA (Mike Santana, The Hardys, Steve Maclin & Santino Marella) over Team NXT (Stacks Lorenzo, High Ryze, Brooks Jensen & Lexis King)
Team TNA prevailed over NXT in the 5-on-5 steel cage match, and was followed by a significant angle to close the show.
The team of The Hardys, Mike Santana, Steve Maclin & Santino Marella prevailed over Team NXT’s Stacks Lorenzo, High Ryze, Brooks Jensen & Lexis King in a modified version of War Games.
Jensen and Santana began the match with two minutes, followed by new entrants every sixty seconds, and NXT having the advantage.
Matt Hardy was removed from the match after he was attacked by Tyriek Igwe on his way to the ring and had his head smashed into the steps. The Righteous arrived and carried Hardy to the back and never returned to the match.
The nine men (and one referee) were contained to one ring, and it made for a very crowded environment. Steve Maclin took the brunt of a Tower of Doom off the cage and led to the closing stretch when Marella used the cobra on Jensen, and Santana connected with the STB to pin Jensen.
The TNA team exited the cage except Marella, who stayed inside with future son-in-law Stacks Lorenzo when Arianna Grace entered, as well. She locked the door and held onto the key before hugging her father and proceeding to kick him low. This caused Stacks to attack Marella and flee the scene when Maclin returned and climbed into the cage to save Marella.
Grace left the ring and referred to her father as a “deadbeat”.
It was implied that Grace was the secret person working on behalf of NXT and allowed them into the building at Full Sail University when it was a closed set.
Backstage, Matt Hardy awoke and was groggy from the attack as Vincent & Dutch explained the Hardys “could ascend even higher and become immortal” (weren’t they both Immortal in 2011?) Matt rebuffed Dutch and staggered away as The Righteous laughed.
Bear Bronson became the next contender for the TNA World Championship by winning the 20-man battle royal after eliminating Eric Young last. Bronson’s match with Frankie Kazarian was already taped earlier this month in El Paso and will air on January 1.
Moose reacted to losing the battle royal while noting he never invoked his rematch clause for the X Division title and wants to face Leon Slater at Genesis on January 17. Cedric Alexander entered and told Moose that he has the next shot against Slater, so it’s unclear what the pay-per-view match will be.
After beating Indi Hartwell in a Dog Collar Match, Dani Luna issued a challenge to Lei Ying Lee for the Knockouts Championship. Lee accepted and said she would face her anytime and anyplace. No announcement was made regarding when it will occur.
Elijah hosted a concert, which was interrupted by Order 4. Jason Hotch & John Skyler jumped Elijah from behind, but he managed to fight them off. Elijah went up the ramp to deal with Special Agent Zero and was laid out by Ali with a guitar shot to the back.
Next week’s episode, featuring a ten-person tag and the year-end awards, will air. The El Paso tapings will continue on January 1 & 8, before moving to AMC the following week.
