Samoa Joe “saved the day” at AEW’s All In event in 2023.

Tony Khan sat down with Case Lowe for over an hour on Q101 and was asked about the most stressful pay-per-view he ever produced.

“The most stressful pay-per-view was the first one at Wembley, by far. Samoa Joe saved the day there.”

When Lowe followed up asking how Joe saved the day, Khan continued, “I think it was very good that Samoa Joe de-escalated the situation and also that Samoa Joe made sure that the fans got the match that they thought they had paid to see, and he went out there, and everything was great, and he was such a professional. That exemplifies Samoa Joe in the ring and out of the ring.”

All In 2023 was both one of the highest and lowest points of the promotion’s short history as it staged its first event at Wembley Stadium.

The promotion set its attendance record with the company announcing 81,035 paid and Wrestlenomics reporting a scan count of 72,265.

The event was marred by a backstage incident when CM Punk confronted Jack Perry following comments that Perry made during his pre-show match with Hook aimed at Punk.

Footage that AEW released in April 2024 showed Punk confronting Perry and a pull-apart ensuing. Punk is also confronting a figure off camera, believed to be Khan.

The incident occurred before Punk’s scheduled match with Joe was set to open the pay-per-view. The match proceeded and would be Punk’s last match in AEW.

One week later, AEW fired Punk “for cause” with Khan stating that his “security, safety, and life” were in danger.
