“The Phenominal One” will meet “The Ring General” in Germany next week.
A matchup between decorated wrestlers AJ Styles and Gunther will take place on next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, which will go down live at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf.
A matchup between Styles and Gunther was confirmed this week after the two stars went face-to-face. Styles confronted Gunther in the ring, trying to end his disrespectful gloating about retiring John Cena.
Since Gunther wasn’t going to let him talk, Styles sent a message to the former world champ by slapping him across the face. This move sent Gunther into a state of shock, failing to retaliate.
“That’s what I thought, nothing,” Styles said before leaving the ring.
As promoted by WWE in a match graphic, Styles and Gunther have never wrestled a televised match before. However, they have faced off as part of WWE house shows in the past, including during a tour of Germany last year.
No other matchups have been announced for next week’s show thus far.
Next week’s Raw will be live from Germany, which means the program will begin significantly earlier than usual. While most episodes go live at 8 p.m. ET, next week’s show has a 2 p.m. ET start. The episode will be available to view on streaming anytime afterward, too.
