Saya Kamitani is taking a short break following a busy 2025.

World of STARDOM Champion Kamitani will step away from in-ring competition for a month, the promotion confirmed on Monday. She will return as part of the company’s February 7 “Supreme Fight in Osaka” card in EDION Arena Osaka.

The H.A.T.E. faction member is taking a break from wrestling after a massive year, which saw her stand out as the Joshi promotion’s top star.

Kamitani carried the World of STARDOM belt through all of 2025, defending it eight times. Among her appearances was a title-versus-title battle against AZM in September, and a win over the retiring Tam Nakano in April.

Kamitani’s success in 2025 made her the first-ever woman to win Tokyo Sport’s MVP award last month.

Kamitani appeared as part of Sunday’s NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 card, facing Syuri in a title-versus-title matchup. In a result deemed by many as an upset, Kamitani dropped her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship in a 12-minute contest.
