Jake Something Debuts

Before the show began, it was revealed that JetSpeed had been viciously attacked after Don Callis and Ricochet’s bounty they put out on their heads. Don Callis revealed Jake Doyle (FKA Jake Something) was the attacker. Doyle was dressed exactly like and looked almost like Mark Davis’s brother. It was noted that Jack Perry would need to find two new partners for the match later tonight.

AEW Dynamite from Tulsa kicked off with the return of Jim Ross, who received a big ovation from the crowd.

Continental Championship Eliminator

The first match of the evening saw Continental Champion Jon Moxley facing off against Shelton Benjamin in an Eliminator match. It was noted that if the match went the full twenty-minute time limit, Benjamin would still be awarded his title shot at a future date. Early in the match, the two brawled into the crowd, and Referee Paul Turner did not enforce a count, allowing them to fight through the crowd. As they made their way back to the ring, the show went to commercial and already hit the ten-minute mark.

After the break, the crowd chanted for Moxley despite both men being faces. Both men exchanged suplexes as Justin Roberts announced that only five minutes remained. With just over one minute left, Benjamin kicked out after a Paradigm Shift. Benjamin responded with a Triangle Choke, but Moxley rolled into it, pinning Benjamin with four seconds left. After the match, Mox shook Shelton’s hand.

Backstage, Darby Allin was shown searching for Pac. Next, footage was shown from WrestleKingdom 20 with Kazuchika Okada defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi in his final match. After that, a promo package aired highlighting Kenny Omega’s challenge to MJF. It was announced that Omega would be live on Dynamite Maximum Carnage next week.

Trios Match

Next up was Ricochet and The Demand taking on Jack Perry and two partners who were revealed to be The Young Bucks as the crowd popped big.

Perry and the Bucks controlled the early portion of the match with their high-flying offense. Jack Perry was bounced over the barricade onto the timekeeper’s table, landing in Doc Sampson’s lap as the show went to break.

The action continued, and Toa Liona then executed a Samoan Drop on all three of their opponents at once. Ricochet then hit Vertigo on Jack Perry, but the Bucks were able to break up the pin attempt. The Spirit Gun was missed, and Perry hit a Poisonrana on Kaun. After a multitude of Superkicks, the face team hit a Doomsday Device, followed by a BTE Trigger, finishing with a running knee from Jack Perry for the win.

After the match, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle attacked the Young Bucks, with The Demand pummeling Jack Perry. Finally, an injured JetSpeed appeared, weapons in hand, to try to fight off the heels. The lights then went out, and Andrade appeared, joining in on the attack. The Don Callis Family (or most of it) stood tall as Tag Team Champions FTR appeared on the ramp with Big Stoke in a wheelchair.

TBS Championship Celebration

Next was Willow Nightingale’s TBS Championship celebration. Willow was accompanied by her co-tag team champion, Harley Cameron, as well as AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander. Nightingale said she knows pro wrestling, so she knows that someone is waiting to crash her celebration. Willow directly invited former champion Mercedes Moné, and she obliged. Willow talked up Mercedes, noting her accomplishments. Mercedes freaked out, flipping over the table of treats before going face-first into a cake held by Krist Statlander. Willow then hoisted her up and hit the Doctor Bomb onto the remainder of the cake.

A video of Mark Briscoe aired, in which he said he was excited that Hechicero was his next opponent, but his TNT title wasn’t going anywhere. He said that with Willow as TBS Champion, The Conglomeration was strapped up.

Triangle of Madness cut a backstage promo making fun of Kris Statlander for reuniting with Willow, someone she “hates”. Thekla challenged Kris, Willow, and Harley to a match next week at Dynamite Maximum Carnage.

Bandido vs. Sammy Guevara

This next match was set up this past week on Collision, with Guevara saying he would take out Bandido and take his place in his title match against MJF next week. Early in the match, Guevara gained an advantage by spitting in Bandido’s face and hitting a Moonsault Spinning DDT off the stairs.

During the commercial break, Sammy took Tony Schiavone’s headset and talked himself up, superkicking Bandido in the middle of his mini-promo. After the break, Guevara hit a number of high-flying moves, including a Shooting Star to the floor.

Somewhere during the match, it became apparent that Sammy managed to bloody his nose as he reversed Bandido’s first attempt at the Twenty-One Plex. Bandido then hit Sammy with a huge knee strike, then successfully executed the Twenty-One Plex on his second try for the win.

MJF immediately came out with an unmasked Serpentico (Jon Cruz) at his side. He said he was a bigger star in Mexico than Bandido would ever be. MJF directed Cruz to translate for him, and Cruz spoke in Spanish to Bandido. During this segment, someone in the front row had a sign that read “MJF blows goats. I have proof,” and security took it away.

MJF brought up that he has six Dynamite Diamond Rings, and the one Bandido wears belongs to him. MJF offered to wrestle Bandido on PPV in five or ten years and asked Cruz to translate again. Bandido screamed that he spoke English, and MJF low-blowed Bandido and stole his ring. Cruz held Bandido up for a ring shot, but was the recipient himself. Bandido immediately hit a low blow on MJF and took the ring back. Bandido hit the Twenty-One Plex on both Cruz and MJF, and Bandido held up the AEW Championship as the segment ended.

A Brody King promo package aired with him saying that violence was sometimes the answer and he was coming for the throne.

Toni Storm vs. Marina Shafir

The next match saw Timeless Toni Storm taking on the Death Riders’ Marina Shafir, who was accompanied by Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia. Shafir had control for much of the early going of the match, even mock dancing with Storm, referencing her recent interactions with Orange Cassidy.

Storm then had Shafir caught in the Big Package when Wheeler Yuta pulled Referee Paul Turner out of the ring. Turner immediately called for the disqualification, bringing out Mina Shirakawa, who was immediately knocked out by Shafir. Luther got into the ring and was about to be attacked when Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy made the save. Claudio Castagnoli appeared at ringside and seemed ready to fight, but Yuta and Garcia backed him off. Cassidy helped Storm and Shirakawa to their feet as Luther looked on disapprovingly.

Pac was interviewed backstage and noted that he had wrestled and beaten Darby Allin twice. Allin interrupted, demanding a match, but Pac said no. Darby then attacked Pac with a fire extinguisher and his skateboard. Allin was about to break Pac’s ankle in a door, and finally Pac agreed.

Lights (Literally) Out Match

The main event was the Lights Out match with Hook and Powerhouse Hobbs taking on Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland. As the match began, the lights flickered, and then the match began in mostly darkness with spotlights attempting to follow the action. After Swerve hit a Death Valley Driver on Hook on the apron, the lights inexplicably returned to normal.

During the commercial break, Hangman introduced a table to the ring. When the show returned, Hook immediately suplexed Hangman through said table. Swerve then produced a staple gun, handing it to Hangman, who immediately used it on Hook several times as he cried in pain. Swerve then attempted to use the staple gun on Hobbs, but it didn’t faze him. Page ran in and used it on Hobbs’ nether region, and it finally affected him.

Hangman and Swerve then pulled a pallet of cinderblocks from under the ring, but Hobbs caught Swerve in mid-air and slammed him onto the pile. The Opps Dojo then appeared, beating down Hangman and Swerve. Hobbs then chained Page and Strickland’s necks together when Nana appeared on the ring apron, throwing coffee into Hobbs’ eyes. Hangman and Swerve fought off the Opps Dojo as Hook Suplexed Nana on the floor. Hangman went for the Buckshot Lariat, but Hobbs caught him with a Spinbuster. Hobbs was immediately hit with Swerve’s House Call to break up the pin. Hangman Swerve hit a combination Stomp/Deadeye on Hobbs on the cinderblocks. Hook then appeared but was quickly overpowered by the faces.

Swerve hit the House Call, and Hangman hit the Buckshot Lariat on Hook. Hangman then put the chain around Hook’s neck and strung him up over the top rope as Hook finally tapped out.
