Shota Umino signs deal to stay with New Japan Pro Wrestling

Shota Umino states he is remaining with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The 28-year-old had a short message posted on X with an update on his status with the promotion:

I have signed a contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling Co., Ltd. for the 2026 fiscal year. My beloved family is “New Japan Pro-Wrestling” alone.

Umino is a product of the New Japan Dojo and debuted nine years ago in April 2017 and traveling to the U.K. for further development.

When he returned in April 2022 as “The Roughneck”, he was met with a polarizing reaction, culminating with his main event at Wrestle Kingdom 19 with Zack Sabre Jr.

He has recently been teaming with Yuya Uemura throughout the World Tag League. The pair face Tomohiro Ishii & Taichi on January 19, and the winners will earn a shot at the IWGP tag team titles held by OSKAR & Yuto-Ice at New Beginning in Osaka.
