New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Shingo Takagi and Stardom’s Natsupoi have announced they are married.

In a report published by Tokyo Sports on Tuesday, the couple confirmed they filed their marriage registration in 2025 after dating since May 2024.

According to the report, the relationship began after Takagi appeared as a special guest at a Stardom event in Yamanashi to promote his 20th anniversary show. Natsupoi recalled feeling an immediate “spark” during a backstage greeting and actively pursued Takagi, who initially remained oblivious to her advances.

“I’m not young anymore, so I wasn’t going to do anything half-hearted,” Takagi told the publication.

The proposal occurred following NJPW’s Dominion event at Osaka-jo Hall in June 2025. On that night, Takagi lost a match to then-IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto. During the build-up and post-match, Goto had mocked Takagi’s perpetual bachelor status, telling him on the microphone, “Even if you don’t give up, I’m sure you’ll find a great wife.”

Natsupoi, who attended the event after wrestling on a Stardom card in Shiga earlier that day, was in the audience for the comment.

“She heard that mic comment and apparently it really made her heart skip a beat,” Takagi said. “Later… with that momentum, I said, ‘Then shall we get married?’ That’s when I proposed.”

Both wrestlers expressed a desire to continue their active careers while building a family.

Takagi, 43, has been a central figure in NJPW since joining the promotion in 2018. A former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, he previously spent over a decade as a top star in Dragon Gate.

Natsupoi, 30, began her career in 2015 and joined Stardom in 2021. A former Wonder of Stardom Champion and Artist of Stardom Champion, she has also pursued a singing career, releasing her debut album in 2023.
