Paramount+ to introduce price increase this week, in advance of UFC launch

Paramount+ is gearing up for a price increase just as the UFC is about to launch on the service and kick off a seven-year partnership.

Last year, industry analysts were stunned when Paramount licensed the entire domestic rights package from the MMA leader for a staggering $7.7 billion over a seven-year period.

Effective this Thursday, the streaming service will increase its monthly price from $7.99 to $8.99 for its ad-supported plan, while its premium, ad-free tier will rise from $12.99 to $13.99 per month.

The yearly options for the ad-tier are increasing from $59.99 to $89.99, and the ad-free tier from $119.99 to $139.99 annually.

For subscribers in the U.S., their subscription will cover all UFC events throughout the year, including the numbered events, and will represent a large savings for fans who were buying multiple events per year.

UFC 324 will kick off the new era on Saturday, January 24, from the T-Mobile Arena. The Las Vegas card is headlined by Paddy Pimblet facing Justin Gaethje to determine a new interim lightweight champion, as Ilia Topuria is on hiatus. The card also sees the return of Hall of Famer Amanda Nunes to challenge Kayla Harrison for the bantamweight title.

Paramount+ will also stream the first Zuffa Boxing event the night before, from the Apex in Las Vegas, when Callum Walsh meets Carlos Ocampo.

The Paramount+ deal only applies to residents of the U.S., Latin America, and Australia.
