Santos Escobar made a surprise return to AAA on Saturday during the promotion’s premiere broadcast on Fox in Latin America.

The WWE performer appeared unannounced in Mexico City to attack AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.

Wagner Jr. was in the ring issuing a challenge when a figure wearing an El Hijo del Fantasma mask interrupted him. The intruder whispered a message to Wagner Jr. before knocking the champion to the mat.

The assailant then unmasked to reveal himself as Escobar before leaving with the Latin American title.

Later, Escobar released a video on social media addressing his absence. He noted that nobody had asked about his status for six months, adding that he would now provide answers on his own time.

This marks Escobar’s first major appearance since he was removed from WWE television last July. While his previous contract reportedly expired on October 7, the 41-year-old quickly reached a new agreement with the company.

The angle occurred during the debut episode of AAA on Fox, which aired on Saturday night across most of Latin America, and on the WWE YouTube channel elsewhere.
