The opening match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event ended in a no-contest after a brawl between Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu.
Fatu ambushed Rhodes during his entrance, striking referee Charles Robinson in the process. Despite attempts by security and officials to intervene, the fight escalated quickly. Fatu leapt from the ring post onto a group of guards before Rhodes retaliated with a suicide dive over the commentary desk.
The action moved into the crowd and the concourse of the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Rhodes used a trash can as a weapon while Fatu slammed a security guard through a table.

They eventually fought their way back to the arena floor, climbing onto road cases.
Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre then appeared and shoved Fatu off a case and through a set of tables. McIntyre struck Rhodes with a low blow and powerbombed him through a table to end the segment.
In a backstage interview with Cathy Kelley immediately following the brawl, McIntyre stated that anyone coming for his title would receive the same treatment.
"That was a statement to EVERYBODY on the roster."
