Seth Rollins says Royal Rumble return won’t happen: ‘I just can’t’

Seth Rollins’ long-awaited in-ring return won’t happen this weekend at the WWE Royal Rumble, he said in a recent interview.

During an appearance on the ESPN program First Take this week, Rollins poured cold water on the idea of this Saturday’s Royal Rumble match marking his return to in-ring competition.

“I’ll give it away, I’m not going to be at the Rumble,” he said on Monday. “I just can’t. I would love to be in there and dump all those dudes over the top rope and punch my card to Wrestlemania, but the doctors are just not gonna let it happen this time around, unfortunately.”

Rollins has been out of the ring since October, when he had surgery on his left shoulder. Shortly after the injury, he estimated that the timeline for his return would be around six months.

While Rollins claims he won’t be at the Rumble this weekend, he hasn’t always been truthful about his injuries and returns as of late. As covered in the latest season of WWE: Unreal, Rollins faked a knee injury last year, allowing him to make a surprise return at Summerslam to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Whether he’s being truthful or pulling off yet another ruse will be found out in just a few days.
