Alisha Edwards wants out of The System

The revamped version of The System kicked off the show with Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, Cedric Alexander, and Bear Bronson. Edwards explains their attack on Moose and JDC last week, stating Moose was a “selfish prick” and JDC just rode their coattails to the finish line of his pathetic career.

Alisha stormed out, stating her contract was coming due and might not want to be part of the System, and was pissed at Eddie for withholding this plan from her. Eddie explained she’s emotional, and that can work at home, but doesn’t fly in a professional environment (wow, they scripted that line). Alisha walked out on the group.

Nic Nemeth defeats BDE

In the opening match of the show, Nemeth defeated BDE in a really entertaining match. Nemeth did a great job, and there is a lot of potential for BDE.

They recapped Nemeth’s message for Mike Santana last week, that he’s an emotional champion, and those don’t last long (there are a lot of emotional characters on this show).

Tom Hannifan explained it’s now “commonplace” for wrestlers to play video games in the locker room. Wasn’t that Vince McMahon’s line for all those years when he got asked about deaths in the profession?

BDE got some hope spots and multiple near-falls, which the audience lit up for. He slapped Nemeth, hit a Busaiku knee, and a Frog Splash for a near-fall. Then, went for the Clip Cutter (OsCutter) and Nemeth caught him with Danger Zone in mid-air.

It was a very fun match.

Ryan Nemeth walked out to congratulate Nic and said he’d see him in the showers soon (his words) and proceeded to call out Mara Sadè in her hometown of Albuquerque (yes, I looked this up to confirm).

Nemeth said he wants her to admit he’s the superior athlete after beating her at Genesis and offered a handshake. Sadè punched him and lined up for a superkick, but Nemeth nailed her with a clothesline. This was only a million times more tolerable than their pay-per-view match.

The Elegance Brand had Ash under a blindfold and presented her with roses and a diamond necklace. Mr. Elegance’s pecs danced. The Concierge stated Ash is medically cleared and is welcomed back by Lei Ying Lee, with Ash stating she never lost her title. Lee will face her whenever, and was backed by Xia Brookside and Indi Hartwell, and a six-woman tag is made. Indi walked off with the champagne bottles, and Mr. Elegance just posed and danced. This man has a great gig.

Stacks does it “his way”

A non-title match between Stacks Lorenzo and The Home-Town Man was next, with Arianna Grace accompanying her fiancé, and is now “on the straight and narrow,” as the announcers reminded us.

After Mr. Elegance, the guy with the best gig is the Home-Town Man. He came out with his own mask, in the colors of the local sports team, and got over every single time.

Stacks stole the mask and wore it. Home-Town Man reclaimed it and placed the mask on a kid in the front row. They loved him.

Grace has made amends with her father, so she won’t help Stacks cheat anymore and won’t hand him the belt to use as a weapon. Grace is upset at Stacks and turns her back as Stacks rolls up HTM and uses the rope for leverage, and then LIES to his fiancée about how he won. Stacks felt very confident that his fiancée is among the 0.03 in the 18-49 demo watching this show.

Backstage, Grace is proud of Stacks for winning clean, but Stacks isn’t happy she didn’t help him cheat, then says he won the match “his way,” and suddenly, Grace sees everything, and realizes he cheated. Santino Marella oversees them as Grace warns Stacks about messing with her. She is a great performer and is making this storyline work.

Jada Stone walks with Elijah

Next up, Elijah takes on Jason Hotch of Order 4 with all the members at ringside. They are trying to put Hotch over as a future X Division prospect and implying he could be something down the road.

The Order 4 members blocked Elijah on the floor as Hotch hit a dive to the floor and worked on Elijah’s previously injured left triceps. Hotch hit a nice UFO into a Blue Thunder Bomb, but followed with a reverse springboard into a flying knee by Elijah. He hit the Highwaymen’s Farewell (seriously) and won.

Order 4 attacked Elijah, and they held up in the ring as Mustafa Ali got the guitar like he was the Honky Tonk Man and Elijah was Elizabeth on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Elijah fought free and nearly struck Ali with the guitar when Special Agent Zero saved Ali.

Jada Stone was geeking out backstage about being on Impact because she’s dreamed of this “since I was three” (and yes, that checks out). Order 4 stormed onto the set, and Stone was pissed, leading to Tasha Steelz knocking her out. Elijah appeared and helped Stone up, asking if she wanted to walk with Elijah. I doubt that was in her dreams, but she agreed.

The SUAT

Daria Rae is out for commentary as Elayna Black has her first match in TNA, beating Ruthie Jay in a couple of minutes. Rae said Black is here “because she sells tickets” and “puts butts in seats”. I was bracing for her to pull up a WrestleTix tally.

Black hit the Nagata/Punk step-up knee in the corner, and a double underhook twisting neck breaker to win. Too short to get any type of read on Black, but comes with a lot of presence.

The Hardys are backstage, and they think AMC is so cool. The Righteous entered and said Genesis was not “chaos but clarity” and just went on and on and on. Matt Hardy, speaking on behalf of me, asked, “WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE, GUYS?” Vincent proposed working together and not against each other. Skip.

Gia Miller plays Jeremy Borash and hosts the Feast, or Fired reveals:

  • Trey Miguel: TNA International Championship
  • Eddie Edwards: TNA World Heavyweight Championship
  • Steve Maclin: FIRED
  • Eric Young: X Division Championship

Eddie Edwards and The System approached Mike Santana with his briefcase and warned him he’s got a target on his back.

Tom Hannifan was emotional, calling Steve Maclin his best friend and getting him this job in TNA.

Next week:

  • Elijah & Jada Stone vs. Mustafa Ali & Tasha Steelz
  • Lei Ying Lee, Indi Hartwell & Xia Brookside vs. The Elegance Brand
  • The Righteous in action

No Holds Barred

The main event was a rematch from Genesis with AJ Francis facing Rich Swann in a No Holds Barred match, and the two pulled off another great showing together.

The crowd loved this match and featured all types of weapons. Swann was excellent, and Francis took several major bumps and just clicked with Swann.

There were two tables on the floor, and Francis was sent off the edge of the apron with a beautiful ‘rana, and Francis took a perfect bump through both tables. Swann followed with a Phoenix Splash for a two-count.

Francis struck Swann with a chain and battered him with chair shots while a garbage can was placed over his body. Swann wouldn’t quit and countered a Down Payment off the turnbuckle with a ‘rana, sending Francis off the buckle and onto a set of chairs. Swann connected with a splash onto his back from the top turnbuckle and won.

Really good stuff from these two, and this was better than the match at Genesis.

The show ended with Daria Rae walking into her office, where Frankie Kazarian was waiting to talk to her.

Final thoughts

This was the best of the three AMC episodes, with two matches I would recommend – the No Holds Barred main event and the opening match between Nic Nemeth and BDE.

The reveal of the Feast or Fired briefcases is always an entertaining segment and sets up a series of title matches. The announcers really went hard reacting to Steve Maclin’s firing as Hannifan was nearly in tears.

It does feel like a light roster, and it was compounded by Leon Slater being unavailable for these tapings, but TNA has lost some key talent.

Overall, the crowd sounded great, and there were more “hits” than “misses” on this show and as bad as the first episode on AMC was, they have rebounded with two good episodes since.
