Tommaso Ciampa retains, Kyle Fletcher is next

Tommaso Ciampa made the first defense of his TNT championship in the main event, defeating Roderick Strong and Claudio Castagnoli. The ROH/NXT/WWE alums had a strong outing built around a lot of power moves from Castagnoli and fighting around ringside. Strong connected with a jumping knee on Castagnoli, but the cover was broken by a running knee strike by Ciampa, who pinned Strong.

Kyle Fletcher walked out to issue a challenge to Ciampa for next Wednesday’s Dynamite to become the TNT champion again and walk into Australia as champ. Ciampa responded by accepting with a kiss on the cheek, and Fletcher warned that the new signing will find out what “the best” really looks like.

Isla Dawn assists GYV in a wild Parking Lot Fight

The latest parking lot fight in AEW saw a wild brawl on top of a building with the Las Vegas skyline in the background. This was the best match on the show and a great showcase of The Rascalz in this environment.

James Drake and Zachary Wentz bled between the weapons and the usage of vehicles. The limo was opened and was hot boxed with The Rascalz forcing Bryan Keith in and not being able to last. Dezmond Xavier received magical powers from inside, followed by hitting a shooting star off the limo. Later, Xavier took a Doomsday Device with Drake leaping off a car and depositing Xavier onto the cement.

Ortiz was choking Drake with jumper cables when Isla Dawn appeared to assist GYV and broke up the choke, but was sent into the trunk of a van.

Myron Reed showed up with a dive off a car, and it concluded with Eddie Kingston hitting a DDT to Zack Gibson on a car for the pin.

This wasn’t at the height of the Best Friends vs. Santana & Ortiz in 202,0 but it was really intense and featured some incredible spots.

MJF’s Bitch

MJF reacted to his loss to Brody King and called it a “fluke,” blaming Hangman Page, and hopes Page beats Andrade. He warned King he’s going to make him his “bitch”.

Young Bucks Qualify for No. 1 Contender’s Match

In the opening match, the Young Bucks defeated GOA in an entertaining television match. Toa Liona nearly killed himself attempting a moonsault, but failed to rotate over. He hopped to his feet and showed the world he’s immune to neck damage. The Bucks missed a BTE Trigger when Kaun ducked but hit on the second try and hit a Meltzer Driver.

They will face The Rascalz and a Wild Card team in Ontario, California, on Wednesday to determine the No. 1 contenders.

FTR and Big Stoke appeared on the screen to remind the Bucks that it isn’t the “good old days” where the Bucks will become tag champions and Kenny Omega will win the AEW title. Dax Harwood said the Bucks will never catch their legacy as eleven-time champions, but hope they win on Wednesday, so they can give them another loss.

Kris Strap-lander

Kris Statlander was about to announce the stipulation for Wednesday’s rematch with Thekla for the Women’s title when she was attacked by Thekla with a spear. Thekla and the Sisters of Sin proceeded to hold her down, and she was whipped repeatedly. Statlander called her a “stupid bitch” and you’ll never guess what stipulation she chose.

The pun was hers, not mine.

Captain Hook

Hook acknowledged that The Opps are in a different position now with Samoa Joe hurt and losing the Trios titles (some nice tap dancing without mentioning Hobbs…err, Royce).

He stated that with Samoa Joe out of action, he’s given Hook the reins as leader and that he’s a born leader and has been the captain on every team he’s been a part of. He didn’t get the part that the Opps are currently two people, but all in due time.

The Brawling Birds

Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor have a name. This was achieved over drinks in the saddest-looking bar in Las Vegas. Indie Geek for Hire tried to hit on them, and they beat him up when Hayter had the epiphany.
