In one of the more surprising results from Wednesday’s NJPW New Beginning in Osaka card, Olympian turned professional wrestling talent Aaron Wolf had his first-ever title reign put to an end in just over two minutes.

Relentless interference from House of Torture both before and during a match allowed Ren Narita to capture the NEVER Openweight Championship this week, cutting Wolf’s run short.

Wolf was attacked during his entrance by House of Torture, with DOUKI, Dick Togo, SHO and Yujiro Takahashi jumping him from behind. A referee bump early in the match allowed the troop to get their hands on Wolf once again, this time attacking him in the ring.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics Judo gold medalist tried to fight back, but was significantly outnumbered and, after a couple of minutes had succumbed to the assault. It was eventually a Hell’s Guillotine kneedrop off the top rope from Narita which put an end to the bout via pinfall.

Wolf had a highly anticipated in-ring debut last month as part of Wrestle Kingdom inside the Tokyo Dome. Overcoming now former House of Torture leader EVIL, Wolf earned the NEVER title during the appearance. Wednesday was his first time attempting to defend the title since earning it in the high-profile spot.

Wednesday’s result begins Narita’s second-ever run with a singles title in NJPW. His prior run saw him briefly carry the NJPW World Television Championship, capturing it in late 2024, then dropping it at Wrestle Kingdom 19.
