Kyle Fletcher returned to his roots on Friday night.

The AEW talent, who will be appearing on Saturday night as part of Grand Slam: Australia, made a surprise appearance at local Sydney promotion Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA) today.

Fletcher wrestled for PWA from 2014 to 2022, including his time alongside Mark Davis in Aussie Open. He was a two-time PWA Tag Team Champion, at one point holding the belt for more than 500 days.

Coming back to an integral part of his career, where he became who he was before the AEW and NJPW years, he reminded fans that he continues to represent the brand on a world stage.

“When I said I wanted to come home with the TNT Championship, I did not just mean Sydney, I meant P f****** W-A, baby,” Fletcher said. “For anyone that doesn’t know, I started training at the PWA Academy at the ripe age of 14 years old, when it was still run out of somebody’s shed … Now everywhere I go, all over the entire world, I will always be flying the PWA flag. I will always be flying the flag for Sydney, for Australia, and for each and every one of you motherf****** right here. Tonight, I brought the AEW TNT Championship back to PWA and one day it will be the world f****** title, I promise you.”

The appearance came just one night before he wrestles inside the Qudos Bank Arena as part of AEW’s second-ever televised show in the country. Defending his TNT title for the first time since regaining it on Wednesday, Fletcher will meet Mark Briscoe in a ladder match tomorrow.
