The recent anti-ICE chants at AEW events have attracted significant mainstream coverage, including from HBO’s John Oliver.

Oliver, host of “Last Week Tonight,” a news commentary show which returned for its 13th Season on Sunday, gave a mention to AEW during a segment about the recent backlash against the highly controversial practices of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Talking about the many ways in which anti-ICE sentiment has been shared, Oliver showed a clip of AEW’s episode of Dynamite from earlier this month in Las Vegas, where a “F*** ICE” chant emerged just before Brody King and MJF faced off.

“Excellent,” Oliver said after playing the snippet. “Well done to everyone involved there, from the crowd getting their point across in the perfect way, to MJF going full ‘Jim from The Office’ into the camera.”

Oliver isn’t the first mainstream figure to reference the chanting from AEW crowds. NBC News, CNN, and The Baily Beast all picked up on the story recently as well after clips of the Las Vegas moment went viral.

The chants continued last weekend when AEW went overseas to Brisbane for the second-annual Grand Slam: Australia.
