Former lead director of WWE programming, Kerwin Silfies, has passed away.

PWinsider.com reports that Silfies died on Tuesday at seventy-five after privately battling health issues.

He began with WWE around 1985, and while his tenure was interrupted throughout the years, last worked there in 2020.

Silfies was from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and ascended in the WWF, directing Saturday Night’s Main Event, Superstars, Wrestling Challenge, and Wrestling Spotlight.

He was tasked as the director of WrestleMania.

From Taz:

I can’t explain what a super person & great director Kerwin was. I work with him for many years in WWE on the road & in studio. His passion for great Tv in the wrestling biz was strong. This man once was working in the studio thru an actually heart attack & kept working!! Very sad to hear this. I hope they put him in their WWE HOF. He belongs. Prayers & support to his family. RIP

He obtained a degree in broadcasting from Temple University and found work at PBS Ch. 39 in his home state, per The Morning Call.

Silfies would occasionally pop up on WWE DVD releases as a talking head, recently speaking on the WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle documentary on Peacock.

In 2005, Chavo Guerrero Jr. was repackaged as Kerwin White with the name lifted from Silfies.

Silfies was among the many personnel furloughed during the pandemic six years ago and never returned to the company.
