Nikita Hand may be awarded damages after accusing couple of malicious abuse of court processes

Nikita Hand could be awarded damages stemming from a ruling against two witnesses accused of concocting evidence in the Conor McGregor case.

In November 2024, McGregor was found civilly liable for sexually assaulting Hand in a December 2018 incident at the Beacon hotel in Dublin. The UFC fighter was ordered to pay damages and lost an appeal last summer.

During the appeal process, McGregor’s lawyers withdrew an application regarding new evidence concerning two neighbors of Hand. Samantha O’Reilly and Steven Cummins claimed to have observed Hand’s then partner assaulting her before the incident with McGregor. Hand denied in an affidavit that this occurred and filed a lawsuit for damages for malicious abuse of court processes.

The Irish Times reports that documents submitted by Hand’s team showed that O’Reilly and Cummins no longer lived at the address in December 2018, and the evidence was “entirely concocted” to advance McGregor’s defense.

A judge ruled in favor of Hand by default after O’Reilly and Cummins failed to appear, but has placed a stay for four weeks, allowing the defendants additional time to respond before an assessment of the damages is made.

McGregor was also sued by Hand regarding the claim and has entered an appearance in the case.
