The UFC plans to move ahead with its scheduled Fight Night card in Mexico City this weekend despite violence in other regions of the country.

It was first reported by Rodrigo Del Campo González that there were no plans to move or cancel this Saturday’s show. TMZ adds that the event will move ahead with the UFC informing the outlet that the card “is proceeding as planned at this time.”

Regions of Mexico have been swept up in the violent fallout from the death of Mexican cartel leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes a.k.a. ‘El Mencho’. The New York Times reports that 70 people were arrested and 34 suspected cartel members were killed, along with 25 National Guard members, according to Mexican officials.

Multiple pro wrestling shows were canceled over the past two days, including tonight’s CMLL show at Arena Coliseo in Guadalajara.

The violence has not extended into Mexico City, where the UFC Fight Night event is scheduled.

The card is headlined by a flyweight contest involving former champion Brandon Moreno (23-9-2) and Lone’er Kavanagh (9-1).
