The NJPW World Television Championship changed hands at New Beginning USA as El Phantasmo was unseated.

Konosuke Takeshita is the new holder after pinning El Phantasmo during an overtime period to become the new champion.

The two wrestled to a fifteen-minute draw, where the drama intensified during the final three minutes, and each was going for their signature maneuvers. Takeshita survived a Canadian Hammer and CR II and attempted Raging Fire when it was countered, and ELP hit the Raging Fire, and the match ended.

The audience was disappointed, which led to ELP proposing an additional five minutes, and it was accepted. The overtime started at a fast pace with covers back-and-forth. Takeshita hit the CR II, and the champion kicked out. Once Takeshita got to his feet, he hit the power drive knee and a Raging Fire to win the title.

It was their third match over the past year as they fought to a draw at Resurgence last May in California, and El Phantasmo was one of three people to beat Takeshita in last summer’s G1 Climax tournament.

El Phantasmo won the title last April from Great O-Khan at Wrestling Hizen no Kuni in Saga, Japan, and it was his second time holding the championship.
