AEW Men’s World Championship

AEW Dynamite from El Paso kicked off with MJF defending his AEW World Championship against Kevin Knight. Early on in the match, Knight missed the UFO Splash, and MJF responded by thrusting his nether region into Knight’s face after running the ropes.

Kevin Knight fought from underneath for a few minutes before hitting a massive dive onto MJF on the outside. Momentum swung back and forth with both men exchanging pinfall attempts. Knight then hit a massive diving clothesline over the top rope onto MJF, again on the outside.

Knight began selling a rib injury, meanwhile, hitting a moonsault off the barricade onto MJF. He followed that up with a Coast-to-Coast on MJF and the UFO Splash, but MJF kicked Referee Bryce Remsburg into the ropes, so he was unable to count. Another UFO Splash attempt was met with MJF’s knees, and MJF hit the Heatseeker for the win.

MJF threw Remsburg out of the ring and went to hit Knight with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Hangman Adam Page appeared on the stage. This allowed Speedball Mike Bailey to kick MJF, saving his partner.

Allin & Cassidy vs. Kidd & Connors

Next up was the unlikely tag team of Darby Allin teaming with Orange Cassidy to take on Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors. Darby and Orange jumped the heels before the match began, and a brawl ensued around the ringside. Connors hit a spear by running up the steps and through a table into the timekeeper’s area. The match finally began, and Kidd and Connors took control.

After a commercial break, Cassidy finally recovered, but Allin was kept away from making a tag by Kidd & Connors. Finally, the hot tag was made to Orange, and he went to work on both opponents. Cassidy and Allin worked in tandem, with Darby hitting a Coffin Drop onto both men on the outside and Cassidy hitting Connors with an Orange Punch for the win.

After the match, David Finlay appeared from out of nowhere with his shillelagh, and the three “Dogs” beat down Cassidy and Allin, leaving them lying.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviewed Bandido and Andrade ahead of their match at Revolution in eleven days. Bandido said he has been a fan of Andrade for a long time. Andrade asked if he wanted to fight or wanted a selfie.

The Brawling Birds vs. The Iinspiration

Next up was the television debut of Cassie and Jessie, The Iinspiration. The Iinspiration asked for their music to be restarted before the match began, and the Birds attacked them from behind.

This was a squash by Hayter and Windsor as they picked up the win with Two Birds, One Stone in less than ninety seconds.

Hangman “In Action”

The next match was Hangman Adam Page “in action” against Marty Snow, who was announced by Justin Roberts but didn’t receive a lower third graphic. Hangman hit a high boot and the Buckshot Lariat for the win in ten seconds. Page got on the mic, saying he will have no conscience in their Texas Death Match next Saturday. Hangman called MJF out, and he obliged, saying he just whipped Kevin Knight’s ass. MJF said something about a press conference next week when suddenly Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada, and Mark Davis jumped Hangman.

Knight and Bailey ran down to even the odds, and finally, Don Callis emerged. Callis said that Knight was after Okada’s International title, Bailey was after Fletcher’s TNT Championship, and Hangman wanted the world title. Callis announced that the Trios titles would be on the line in tonight’s main event.

A sit-down interview conducted by Renee Paquette in a small conference room aired, during which all parties agreed to no physical contact. Both teams jaw-jacked back and forth, and FTR went to leave but noted that no physicality didn’t include Brandon Cutler, who was there filming for BTE. Dax nailed Brandon with a punch and ran off.

Jon Moxley vs. Hechicero

The next match saw Don Callis Family’s Hechicero taking on Continental Champion Jon Moxley. As the Death Riders made their way to the ring, Marina Shafir spoke to the camera, saying, “Come on, Toni, make me laugh. Make me laugh.” (Props to the fan with the sign that read “Didn’t have to re-mortgage the house to attend this event” during this segment). As the match began, very loud dueling chants of “Hechicero” and “Let’s Go Moxley” rang out. Hecihcero mounted Moxley in the corner, and the crowd counted the punches in Spanish. Moxley reversed and mounted Hechicero for the same ten punches, and the crowd counted in English.

This started as a match the crowd was very into, but as the match went on, they both went to mat tactics and submission attempts, which lost the crowd a bit. Things picked up from there with Hechicero nearly getting a pinfall after rolling Moxley around the ring while in a leg hold. Mox then hit a Stomp. Hechicero said “fuck you” and gave him the finger as Moxley hit a running knee, followed by the Death Rider, for the win. Takeshita appeared in the ring as Mox left through the crowd and pointed at the Revolution sign.

Brody King appeared and grabbed a microphone, calling out Swerve Strickland. Prince Nana appeared and waved for Swerve to come out when Swerve appeared from the crowd, attacking Brody from behind with his chain and hitting the House Call. Swerve wrapped the chain around King’s throat and choked him over the top rope. Stickland said that the entire AEW roster was on notice and agreed to a match with Brody at Revolution. Bandido finally made the save, chasing Swerve off. Note: No ICE-related chants were noticeable in this segment.

The Death Riders cut a backstage promo on the Don Callis Family, culminating with Moxley running down CMLL, New Japan, and “all the advertising agencies” that have gotten into wrestling these days.

AEW Women’s World Championship

The first match of what the announce team labeled a “double main event” saw Thekla defending her AEW Women’s Championship against Thunder Rosa. Unfortunately, the women didn’t get the lights-lowered, Justin Roberts treatment prior to their match as the men did earlier in the night.

Thunder Rosa took it to the Champion as the match began, but Thekla quickly took over, going into an ad break. Upon return, Rosa mounted a comeback, but Thekla stopped her by executing a Spider Suplex. Thekla hit the spear but pulled Rosa up before the three-count. Rosa recovered, hitting a Stunner and a Fire Thunder Driver for a big near fall. Thekla picked up the win after another spear and two more stomps.

After the match, the Sister of Sin and Kris Statlander emerged, and security separated them. Thekla gave Rosa one more stomp before Statlander chased her off.

A pre-taped Jack Perry and Ricochet promo aired with Ricochet agreeing to a “war” with Perry.

Renee Paquette interviewed Tommaso Ciampa on the stage, saying that Kyle Fletcher was hiding behind the Don Callis Family. Ciampa said that he will earn his next shot if he has to, as he came to AEW to be a “top guy”. That brought out FTR, who have a long history with Ciampa and a former partner of his. Dax gave Ciampa a hug and said he was only there to welcome an old friend to AEW. FTR invited Ciampa to join them and take over the company. Ciampa said he hated their guts ten years ago and still does. Ciampa hit Dax with a chop, and Dax stopped himself from retaliating. Instead, he said he would see Ciampa on Saturday at Collision.
