Knockouts Championship

TNA Thursday Night Impact kicked off live from Atlanta with Jody Threat challenging Arianna Grace for the TNA Knockouts Championship. Lilian Garcia was seen in the crowd alongside the cast of “Mama June”. Tessa Blanchard, Victoria Crawford, and Mila Moore appeared before the bell rang, with Tessa joining the commentary team. Arianna Grace jumped Jody Threat before Grace was announced, and the match began. Dani Luna then waltzed through the crowd and stood at ringside watching. Then Indi Hartwell appeared. Next, Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside appeared on the ramp.

Meanwhile, in the ring, Grace gained an advantage after a distraction by Stacks Lorenzo. Four minutes in, the focus was entirely on outside forces instead of the title match occurring in the ring. Jody Threat finally hit a dive on the outside, taking out Stacks. Grace then went for the Cobra, and she and Threat played tug-of-war with it until Threat’s ribs gave out. Grace picked up the win with a roll-up, retaining the title.

Gia Miller conducted an interview backstage with The Nemeths, with Nic Nemeth saying he was going to take out Leon Slater tonight. There were all kinds of audio issues with this promo, and it was very hard to hear.

The Elegance Brand

The Elegance Brand was out next without Ash, who they said was absent due to mental health issues caused by Mickie James. They addressed James directly, saying her era was over and it was now the “Era of Elegance”. They turned their attention to Mama June and said it was offensive that she was in the front row, and she belonged “in a food truck”. ODB then appeared, wheeling a cooler through the crowd. ODB laid out all three members of the Elegance Brand in front of Mama June. ODB handed some kind of meat in cups to the cast of Mama June, and they dumped it all over the Elegance Brand. Riveting.

The Hardys approached Leon Slater in the back, and Slater thanked them for the mentorship. The Hardys said that Leon has earned everything he’s done so far. The Hardys then turned their focus to the next match, which was the #1 Contenders Tag Team match.

#1 Contenders’ Tag Team Championship Match

The next match was for a shot at The Hardys’ TNA Tag Team Championships, featuring The Righteous, The System, BDE & Rich Swann, and Sinner & Saint. Things broke down early, and Dutch hit a dive onto all of the opponents on the outside. Rich Swann and BDE had a fun exchange with Sinner & Saint, with each team hitting big moves for near falls. Things broke down again, this time inside the ring, culminating with Bear Bronson hitting the Fire Thunder Driver on BDE to pick up the win.

A pre-taped video aired, with Rosemary lamenting that everything had gone wrong, but there was still time to make things right. She started writing a list of sins that ended with “The Realm”.

We Hear from Moose

Moose was out next to cut an in-ring promo, saying that The System was not a family, then pointed to “Atlanta Falcons Legends” in the front row, whom he called his family. Moose said starting next week, he was going to go through every member of The System, starting with Cedric Alexander, in an Atlanta Street Fight. He said that Brian Myers was next, calling him “Edge’s bitch”. Alisha Edwards thanked Moose for convincing her to sign, and she would be by his side as he dismantled The System.

Injury Report

  • Mustafa Ali – out of action since the Guitar Case Casket Match – scheduled to return next week
  • Mickie James – out after the Elegance Brand attack – under medical supervision
  • Leon Slater & Nic Nemeth – cleared to compete in X Division Title match tonight

Backstage, BDE blamed himself for the loss, but Rich Swann said it wasn’t his fault. Trey Miguel approached and tried to motivate BDE as well. Order 4 approached and said it should have been them in their spot. BDE & Swann left when Jada Stone approached, asking where Ali was, and thought he might still be in the casket. Jada Stone and Tasha Steelz got into a shoving match before getting pulled apart. Order 4 said that Ali would be back next week, and if Miguel had anything to say about it, to see them in the ring.

Mara Sadé vs. Elayna Black

The next match saw Mara Sadé taking on Elayna Black. The two competitors went back and forth, exchanging control of the match until Sadé hit a high cross to the outside on Black. Black recovered and hit a Canadian Destroyer on Sadé out of nowhere for a near fall. Black then grabbed a chair, but the referee ripped it away. Meanwhile, she pulled brass knuckles from inside the turnbuckle and nailed Sadé with them as the referee took forever handing the chair to someone at ringside.

AJ Francis cut a backstage promo saying he ran another person out of TNA. He called Atlanta a town full of losers when Home Town Man appraoched and the two started brawling.

The King’s Speech with Frankie Kazarian

Kazarian opened his “show” talking about honoring his friend AJ Styles on Raw a few weeks ago. He welcomed Elijah and told him the Guitar Case Casket Match was an instant classic. Elijah broke the fourth wall, saying that he knew what Kazarian was up to. Kazarian pointed out that he was a Grand Slam Champion in TNA, but Elijah has won no titles. Kazarian got into Elijah’s face when AJ Francis and Home Town Man appeared, continuing their brawl on the stage. Francis threw HTM into the “crowd,” aka wrestlers. Elijah went to check on HTM, and the segment ended.

Eric Young grabbed a camera in the back and said he hopes Leon wins tonight.

Tommy Dreamer and Carlos Silva were in the back when Dreamer turned into Rosemary. Rosemary gave Silva a contract (the list of sins from earlier), and he said he could sign it. Rosemary produced a feather pen, and the two signed the contract. She said one sin was down and there were six to go.

X-Division Championship

The main event of the night was Leon Slater defending his X-Division Championship against Nic Nemeth, who was accompanied by Ryan Nemeth. The younger Nemeth distracted Slater early on, allowing Nic to hit the Fameouser for a near fall as the show went to break.

Upon return, Slater was fighting from underneath, hitting a crazy-looking Blue Thunder Bomb to Nemeth for a near fall. Nemeth went for another Famouser, and Slater countered with a Styles Clash. Slater attempted a 450 Splash but hit Nemeth’s knees for another near fall. Ryan Nemeth attempted to get involved again, but was met with a Superkick to the face. Finally, Slater hit the Swanton 450 for the win. Eric Young appeared immediately after the bell rang, attacking Slater and piledriving him on the outside. Young grabbed the X-Division title and shoved it in Slater’s face as the segment ended.

Santana Speaks

After a commercial break, TNA Champion Mike Santana was in the ring with five minutes left in the show. Santana addressed Steve Maclin, saying what he did to Tom Hannifan was wrong. Santana demanded Santino Marella come out and reinstate Maclin so he could face him. This brought out Daria Rae, who reinstated Maclin, but when or if Santana faces him is up to her. Santino finally appeared and revealed there was already a match set between the two: Sacrifice on March 27th. This upset Tom Hannifan, and rightfully so. Santana said Maclin has a “date with death” when he sees him next week.

The show ended with Hannifan losing his mind about Maclin being reinstated. Hannifan was great here. Matthew Rehwoldt attempted to add a note, but his acting was subpar in comparison to Hannifan.
