Persephone is the new CMLL Women’s Champion as she unseated Mercedes Moné in the main event of the promotion’s all-women’s show.
The Night of the Amazonas featured Moné returning to CMLL for the first time since October and having her first match in 2026.
Persephone became the No. 1 contender last week by defeating Olimpia, setting up a rematch with Moné from their title match last October.
Moné goaded the crowd by wearing a mask at the start and giving the middle finger to the fans. She snapped Persephone’s arm on the rope for the advantage. When she applied the Statement Maker, Persephone fought to her feet and turned it into a sit-out powerbomb.
The challenger took out Megan Bayne at ringside, who was in Moné’s corner.
In the ring, Persephone used the Razor’s Edge into a stack for a big near-fall and was stunned that Moné kicked out. The challenger regrouped and used a springboard splash to win the championship for the first time in her career.
All the females entered the ring for a big celebration and photo with the new champion to end the show.
It is the latest championship Moné has lost, but still holds seven titles across various independent groups.
She has not appeared on AEW programming since the New Year’s Eve edition of Dynamite, when she lost the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale.
