Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) has addressed Thursday’s incident at the Davis Arena, where a referee experienced a medical episode during a live match.

A video of the incident circulated on Thursday, where referee Dallas Edwards appeared to be having a seizure after taking a bump in a ‘Four Corners of Chaos’ match at the Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky.

The story has drawn heavy criticism as the match continued and included a performer moving Edwards out of the way when he clearly needed medical attention.

OVW released a statement on Friday afternoon:

Last night during Rise, referee Dallas Edwards – a member of our OVW family – experienced a medical emergency during the broadcast. OVW takes the health and well-being of all our performers extremely seriously, and as a company, we are all distraught to see an injury to one of our own.

Dallas is alert and doing much better. We ask everyone to keep him in your thoughts and prayers and respect his and his family’s privacy at this time.

We will provide an update as soon as it is available, but in the meantime, we wish Dallas a speedy recovery, and we can’t wait until he’s back with our OVW family very soon.

Edwards’ girlfriend issued a statement and called it a ‘brain injury’ that he sustained and was being monitored by doctors.
