One of Mexico’s biggest stars has inked a deal with AEW.
Lucha star Mistico officially joined the AEW roster on Sunday night, with his signing getting announced immediately after he captured the promotion’s World Trios Championships alongside Kevin Knight and Speedball Bailey.
Mistico, Bailey, and Knight took down the Don Callis Family trio of Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis to win the titles as part of the Revolution pay-per-view this weekend in Los Angeles, California.
The trios match, which went at a frantic pace, saw the babyface team work together for a crafty finishing sequence. As Mistico applied La Mistica to Fletcher, preventing him from breaking up a pin attempt, Knight scored a massive UFO Splash onto Davis for the pinfall victory in 17 minutes.
As part of a partnership with CMLL, Mistico has made infrequent appearances over the years with AEW. He notably worked as part of last year’s Grand Slam Mexico card, going one-on-one with MJF, then also appeared as part of the promotion’s All In card last July.
He just became 1/3 of the new AEW World Trios Champions at #AEWRevolution tonight, and now it’s official:

It was noted on the broadcast by Excalibur that the deal is a dual contract, similar to the agreements AEW has inked with other CMLL names like Persephone, Mascara Dorada and Hechicero, Mistico.
Knight and Bailey held the six-man titles earlier this month alongside Hangman Adam Page, with the trio being known as Jetset Rodeo. They held the titles for 49 days before dropping them to the Okada, Fletcher and Davis trio earlier this month on Dynamite.
With Page set to appear in the main event of Revolution for the AEW World Championship, Knight and Bailey enlisted CMLL legend Mistico to work as their tag partner for this weekend. The bout was a return of sorts to the promotion for Mistico, who hadn’t been seen on AEW programming since a November episode of Collision.
