Yuya Uemura and Oleg Boltin advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 New Japan Cup on Sunday.

The quarterfinal round commenced at the Aimesse Yamanashi in Kofu.

Uemura defeated Shingo Takagi in the main event to secure his spot. Takagi controlled the early moments with a tackle and a senton before lariating his opponent to the floor.

Uemura responded by targeting Takagi’s left arm, using the ringside guardrails to his advantage and snapping the elbow. The competitors traded heavy suplexes and nearfalls down the stretch.

Takagi executed a Made In Japan, but Uemura survived and eventually countered a Last of the Dragon attempt into a triangle choke. Uemura then connected with a High Fly Flow and applied a hammerlock before executing a bridged Deadbolt suplex to achieve the pinfall victory.

Earlier in the evening, Boltin eliminated Ren Narita.

Narita attacked Boltin before the opening bell, dropping him knee-first onto the arena floor. He dominated the opening minutes until Boltin powered out to deliver a Boltin Shake and a corner powerbomb.

Narita later incapacitated the referee to orchestrate interference from his House of Torture stablemates. Toru Yano and Aaron Wolf thwarted the ambush, allowing Boltin to survive a Double Cross. He caught Narita on a Hell’s Guillotine attempt and hit a Verdict followed by a Kamikaze for the win.

Uemura and Boltin will wrestle each other in the tournament semifinals on Friday, March 20, in Nagaoka.

The quarterfinal stage concludes on Tuesday in Fukushima. That event features Shota Umino against Zack Sabre Jr. alongside Hirooki Goto versus Callum Newman.
