The WWE has posted a statement regarding the passing of actor Chuck Norris.

The action star passed away at the age of eighty-six, with a career devoted to martial arts that was parlayed into an acting career. Highlights included his run as the lead star of Walker, Texas Ranger, which aired on CBS for eight seasons throughout the ‘90s.

From WWE:

WWE is saddened to learn that legendary Hollywood actor and pop culture icon Chuck Norris has passed away.

A legend in the television and film industry with iconic projects such as Walker Texas Ranger, The Way of the Dragon, and many more, Norris became one of the most recognizable stars in Hollywood with his martial arts background playing a key role in his films and shows.

Norris made an iconic appearance at Survivor Series 1994, where he served as the special enforcer for The Undertaker’s Casket Match against Yokozuna.

During the match, Norris delivered a devastating roundhouse kick to Jeff Jarrett, helping The Undertaker win.

WWE extends its condolences to Norris’ family, friends, and fans.

Norris made a one-off appearance for the World Wrestling Federation at the Survivor Series in November 1994. Norris served as the special enforcer for a casket match between The Undertaker and Yokozuna in San Antonio, Texas.

His appearance included a big spot in the match where he fought off a procession of heels attempting to interfere.

Norris was also behind the World Combat League, which was a kickboxing promotion with a team concept where Norris was its president. The league launched in 2005 and lasted for several years with television deals with Versus and, later, the AmericanLife TV Network. The league featured Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, Pat Barry, Andreas Spang, and Uriah Hall among its fighters.

Norris was hospitalized in Hawaii and died on Thursday.
