John Cena has revealed he is working toward a new “integrated” position within WWE following his in-ring retirement.

Speaking at MegaCon Orlando 2026 on Saturday, Cena told attendees during a Q&A panel that he hopes to become a contributing member of the company.

The 17-time world champion explained that he may have “cracked the code” regarding his next career phase within WWE.

I am fully retired now. We always talk about, like, these panels are great, because I always give one piece of information that the world catches, and then it makes the headlines the next day. This is that moment.

I am working diligently to try to figure out my next path as a contributing, useful member of WWE. I think I might’ve cracked the code here. I think we have something, and if the stars align and everybody signs off, I will be a whole lot more integrated in the system, and I’m very excited about the road ahead. I just cross my fingers that it works.

Cena wrestled his final match against Gunther on December 13, 2025. The encounter headlined the Saturday Night’s Main Event broadcast from the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. Gunther defeated Cena via submission to conclude a year-long retirement tour.

The panel was recorded by the ‘Kickin It With Keegan’ YouTube channel and can be viewed below.
