WWE Raw 3/23 Results: Oba bests Brock, Usos interject in Punk/Reigns again

The Overhyped Ruler

WWE Raw from Boston kicked off with Brock Lesnar, adorned in his brand new “FAF5” shirt, coming down to the ring with Paul Heyman. Heyman called Oba Femi “overhyped by WWE,” and Heyman listed wrestlers who failed at taking down Lesnar, including Goldberg, Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley, and Dean Ambrose (which got the biggest audible reaction from the crowd). Heyman finished, throwing the mic when the lights went out, and Femi made his entrance. Lesnar attempted an F5, but Femi got out of it, clotheslining Lesnar out of the ring. Lesnar and Heyman retreated to the back, having been bested two weeks in a row by Femi.

A pre-tape aired with Dominik Mysterio saying that if it wasn’t for Finn Balor, he would still be the Intercontinental Champion. 

Non-Title Match

The Usos were out next to face Logan Paul and Austin Theory of The Vision (without Heyman) in a non-title match. Footage aired showing Logan Paul playing in a flag football game and getting into it with Tom Brady. After an ad break, Michael Cole mentioned Dennis Condrey’s passing. The Usos fought from underneath until Paul brought out brass knuckles. This cued LA Knight to run in, attack Paul, and throw the weapon to Jey Uso. Jey took them and punched Austin Theory, causing the DQ. After the match, Jey also nailed Logan Paul with the knuckles. 

The Man Has Come Around

Becky Lynch was out next to talk about her attack on AJ Lee last week. Becky said that she made the Intercontinental Championship the most important title in all of professional wrestling, but now her own daughter was singing AJ’s theme and skipping around her house. She continued saying that she murdered the Divas era and the butterfly-shaped belt. AJ Lee ran out and chased Becky into the crowd. AJ stood on the announce table and challenged Becky to a title match at WrestleMania. Becky laughed, saying AJ had fallen into her trap, noting that at the last WrestleMania AJ competed in, she turned in her resignation the next day. 

Backstage, LA Knight accused Jey Uso of sounding like Roman Reigns, and Jimmy backed him down, telling Knight to watch his words when talking about their family. 

Evans vs. Waller

Next up was Je’Von Evans taking on Grayson Waller with Kofi Kingston in his corner. Early in the match, Evans hit an absolutely insane dive that looked like he could have broken his neck, but somehow he sprang up, seemingly fine. After a commercial break, Evans continued his high-flying offense with Waller trying to ground him. Evans hit a top rope Hurricanrana, followed by the OG Cutter for the win. Kingston and Waller argued as the segment ended. 

Paul Heyman approached Adam Pearce backstage and requested a Tag Team Championship Street Fight next week at MSG. Pearce then told Heyman to go to the ring, as he requested time to address Seth Rollins. Heyman said he was sick of “everyone around here” and begrudgingly agreed. 

Heyman and Rollins

Paul Heyman appeared in the ring after a commercial break, somehow now involved in three separate feuds going into WrestleMania. Heyman said he had no one left to hide behind tonight and wondered what other choice he had left but to be put out of his misery by Rollins. A masked man appeared on the announce desk and revealed himself to be Seth Rollins. Suddenly, police officers appeared, beckoning Seth to get down as Heyman explained he had obtained a restraining order. The police began taking Rollins away, but Rollins broke off running back to the ring and punching Heyman. Rollins was cuffed and taken away as Heyman laughed. 

Kabuki Warriors vs. Bayley & Lyra

Next up was Asuka & Kairi Sane taking on Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. The Kabuki Warriors took control as the match went into a commercial almost immediately. Upon return, the faces mounted a comeback as the announce team talked about how every team was gunning for tag champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend. Bayley missed an elbow drop on Asuka on the announce table while Lyra hit the Nightwing on Kairi Sane for the pinfall victory. The winners were interviewed post-match and challenged Jax & Legend to a match next week at MSG. It was clarified later that this would be for the titles. 

A promo package aired, highlighting Tiffany Stratton’s time in NXT. 

 

Ishowspeed was backstage with Penta, asking how to do the Penta walk. Dragon Lee entered and introduced himself to Speed. Penta told Dragon Lee he could have a rematch for the title whenever he wanted.

Speed was next with Adam Pearce, when Danhausen appeared and proposed a collaboration between them. Speed said no, and Danhausen cursed him. 

Backstage, Asuka blamed Kairi for their loss and told her to make it up to her. Asuka stormed off, and Iyo Sky appeared, saying Kairi deserved better. Raquel Rodriguez then appeared, challenging Sky to a match next week. 

Dominik Mysterio made his way to the ring for his match with Liv Morgan by his side when Stephanie Vaquer attacked her from behind. Vaquer punched Dom, and the brawl spilled into the Gorilla position. The show went to break, and Dom’s entrance started over, this time without Liv by his side, replaced by JD McDonagh. 

Intercontinental Championship

Next, Penta defended his Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio. Mysterio jumped Penta before the bell and took control early in the match. After an ad break, Penta hit the Penta Driver on Dominik, but Dom was able to kick out. Dom responded by countering a Mexican Destroyer attempt with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall of his own. McDonagh distracted Penta, allowing Mysterio to hit the 619, but then Finn Balor appeared and took out McDonagh. This distracted Mysterio, allowing Penta to roll him up for the victory. Balor attacked Mysterio after the match, before Dom was finally able to escape through the crowd. Balor finished by hitting the Coup de Grace on McDonagh. 

Punk & Reigns “Under One Roof” 

CM Punk ran into Jimmy Uso before heading to the ring to face Roman Reigns, and Jimmy warned him that his brother was “on the warpath”. Punk said he was tired of talking, but Reigns calling him old last week pissed him off. He said he was proud to be old and accused Roman of using beard coloring and oiling himself up with “jizz”.

Jey Uso came down to the ring and said Punk was running his mouth about his family and about him. Punk challenged Jey to a world title match right then and there, but Jimmy came out and started arguing with Jey about getting involved in Reigns’ business. Reigns finally appeared and told The Usos to leave. Jey charged at Punk and got decked, and Reigns hit Punk with the Superman Punch. Jey yelled at “Joe” to smash CM Punk, and Reigns obliged, hitting Punk with a spear. Reigns finished the show by powerbombing Punk through the announce table. Punk could be seen laughing as the show went off the air.
