Tama Tonga has acknowledged and confirmed a recent report that the performer was fined by WWE over an indiscretion at a recent show.
It was reported by Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast last Friday that “Word going around at SmackDown is that Tama Tonga was fined by WWE for posting a video of rehearsals last week (March 13). Was told it was significant of a fine. WWE has an unwritten rule about not recording/posting during rehearsal.”
On Wednesday, the WWE talent addressed the story and appeared to confirm its accuracy:
As addressed, yes I was fined – deserved. I knew better- a careless mistake. -Lesson learned. Take the hit and move on. Back to work.
Fightful Select had a follow-up report to Zarian’s initial story that the fine was said to be “in the five-figure territory”.
Tonga wrestled this past Friday on SmackDown, losing the WWE tag team titles with JC Mateo to Damian Priest & R-Truth in Raleigh, North Carolina. Tonga has been involved in an ongoing story with Shinsuke Nakamura.
