Big match announced in two weeks
The third and final edition of Rey de Reyes featured an excellent Cruiserweight Championship match and the announcement of Penta defending the Intercontinental title in two weeks.
The main segment featured El Ojo of El Hijo del Vikingo, Omos & Dorian Roldan coming out with Vikingo running down his home state of Puebla.
Vikingo threatened Mini Vikingo after he interfered in the match with Dominik Mysterio two weeks ago. He said after putting him in the hospital, the next time he’ll put him in the morgue. Rey Mysterio was taken aback by the threat on commentary.
He continued, stating he was leaving to go after the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania and called out Penta. The champion came down, cut a great promo running down Vikingo, and agreed to the match, but it’s happening on April 11 in Mexico City, instead of ‘Mania.
This will mark Penta’s first match in AAA since WWE’s acquisition one year ago.

Cruiserweights Steal Show
The show opened with an incredible four-way with Laredo Kid retaining the Cruiserweight Championship against TJ Perkins, Dragon Lee, and Jack Cartwheel.
It was nonstop action with many incredible sequences. Cartwheel stood out as his style is so unique and will get over in front of any crowd he’s exposed to. He hit a Space Flying Tiger Drop to all three on the floor. Minutes later, Lee took a Detonation kick from Perkins, Cartwheel flew off the top landing a Phoenix Splash onto Perkins and bounced off his target and was caught by Lee for a Styles Clash onto Perkins. It was incredible.
Lee hit a tope con giro and grabbed his knee after landing and left Perkins in the ring with Laredo Kid. Perkins tried to nail him with the belt, missed, and the Detonation kick was countered with a Poisonrana. Laredo Kid finished Perkins with a curb stomp in thirteen minutes.
This was excellent and well worth finding the time to catch.
Rey Fenix walked down and had a faceoff with Laredo Kid while pointing to the belt as the next major title match.
El Martinete!!!
The latest blowoff match between El Fiscal and Abismo Negro at least featured that great video retrospective they’ve aired in the past, because this feud has been endless.
A few weeks ago, El Fiscal attempted El Martinete on the desk and was stopped by the officials, so this match revolved around both trying to break the other’s neck.
This match was not good and was just painfully going through the motions. After the previous match, it felt like driving on the Autobahn and then exiting and being caught in a traffic jam.
So, the whole point is that each man is attempting El Martinete, the most dangerous move in Lucha. Rey Mysterio then asks his colleagues on commentary, “So, it’s just a fine?” Basically, this move is totally ineffective. Rey Mysterio is a Hall of Famer by any definition and one of the greatest of all-time, but when listing his many accolades, commentary isn’t one of the answers if you’re appearing on Family Feud.
Abismo Negro attempted El Martinete, and El Fiscal countered for a roll-up to pin in the most anticlimactic way imaginable.
It meant nothing because Abismo instantly attacked Fiscal and hit El Martinete on top of the desk (don’t worry, it’s only a fine). El Fiscal was removed on a stretcher, and we’ve probably got another six months out of this program.
