El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) has challenged the Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) to a mask versus mask match.
The heated confrontation between the two closed out a live episode of Lucha Libre AAA on Fox from Mexico City on Saturday.
The two competitors brawled into the ring after the main event, prompting El Grande Americano II to demand the high-stakes encounter. The live crowd reacted wildly to the challenge, which was not answered as the show went off the air.
The rivalry escalated earlier in the show after Original El Grande Americano defeated Octagon Jr. via submission. Following the result, he attacked comedian Alexis Arroyo at ringside.
El Grande Americano II then ran down to make the save, igniting a brawl that spanned the remainder of the show.
La Catalina debuts
Earlier in the broadcast, La Catalina made her AAA debut to a great reception from the audience. She interrupted Flammer, who was celebrating 1,000 days as Reina de Reinas Champion, and pointed out that the titleholder had never defeated her.
Catalina fought off Las Toxicas members Lady Maravilla and La Hiedra before driving Flammer into a celebratory cake. The 25-year-old recently departed CMLL, and it was announced that she will appear alongside her AAA colleagues at WWE World during WrestleMania 42 week.
Penta defends IC Title against Vikingo
In the scheduled main event, Penta defeated El Hijo del Vikingo to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Vikingo’s manager, Dorian Roldan, distracted the referee in the closing moments. This interference allowed Vikingo to grab the championship belt, but Mini Vikingo intervened and attacked him with the title. Penta then capitalized by executing a Mexican Destroyer to secure the victory.
Penta will now defend the championship in a six-pack ladder match on night two of WrestleMania 42.
