Nikki Bella disclosed having surgery on her ankle weeks ago, which prevented her from remaining in the women’s tag match at WrestleMania.

On the WrestleMania 42 Saturday Post Show, Nikki appeared with sister Brie and Paige and revealed that she had surgery on her ankle fifteen days ago, thus ending her hope of wrestling at WrestleMania.

In a post on X, the performer said she fractured, tore, and sprained her ankle and had the surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. She didn’t reveal a timeline for a return to the ring.

Paige (Saraya Jade-Bevis) replaced Nikki in the match and was revealed as the match was about to start. Paige’s return and role at WrestleMania were reported by Mike Johnson at PWInsider.com on Friday.

It was Paige’s first match since October 2024, when she was in AEW, and her first match in a WWE ring since suffering her neck injury on December 27, 2017.

Nikki was injured during a segment on the March 27 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in a match with Brie against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss in Pittsburgh.
