Trick Williams has earned gold in his Wrestlemania debut.

Smackdown’s Williams took down Sami Zayn in seven minutes on Sunday, scoring a pinfall win to earn the WWE United States Championship as part of Wrestlemania 42 Night 2.

Zayn had the lead early on, applying pressure to Williams with an early Blue Thunder Bomb and a nasty brainbuster onto the ring apron. The damage Williams took in the opening mintues caused him to nearly suffer a count-out loss, getting back into the ring just before the referee reached 10.

Artist Lil Yachty, who has been supporting Williams in the lead-up to Mania, helped him score the win on Sunday. After getting attacked by Zayn earlier in the match, Yachty got on the ring apron and attacked him, preventing a Helluva Kick from being delivered. Instead, it was Williams who scored a Trick Kick for a near fall.

Zayn was able to land an Exploder Suplex into a set of turnbuckles and started to line up for a Helluva Kick again. But once he came charging forward he ate a TrickShot from Williams, causing the bout to come to an end.

Sunday’s return marked the beginning of Williams’ first main roster title reign. The two-time NXT Champion and former TNA World Champion joined the Smackdown roster earlier this year as part of a wave of recent call-ups. Williams had family in attendance for the win, as shown on the broadcast afterward.

The bout was Zayn’s return to Wrestlemania, back in the lineup after not appearing in 2025.
