Rey Mysterio has been named the new General Manager of AAA, an announcement that drew the disgust of Dorian Roldán.
At the beginning of Saturday’s broadcast, a line-up of executives and notable names was already in the ring. These included Chessman, Cibernético, and Texano Jr.
Also introduced were Co-CEO of Fillip, Barbara Gonzalez Briseno, AAA President Marisela Peña, and her son, Dorian Roldán.
As Peña took to the microphone to announce the new GM, she said:
The new general manager is a visionary and a leader. He understands the heart of wrestling. He’s a man who is respected all over the world, somebody who inspires generations of fans and wrestlers.
At these words, Roldán smiled and bowed to the crowd, seemingly ready to accept the position.
But then Pena announced the man she was talking about was Mysterio, who came out to the crowd chanting his name. Roldán looked furious.

Mysterio said AAA had given him an opportunity and a family. He added that he intended to take the company to another level, and immediately made a match for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
This opened the show’s in-ring action as champion Laredo Kid took on Rey Fenix. Fenix lost after Laredo Kid feigned an injury and hit his opponent with a low blow while the referee was distracted.
The show closed out with a no contest between Los Hermanos Americanos (The Creed Brothers) and Los Americanos (Rayo and Bravo). The match broke down as Original El Grande Americano got involved, only to be intercepted by The Real El Grande.
This physical altercation broke a no-contact stipulation ahead of their Mask vs. Mask match. However, Mysterio ruled that the contest will go ahead next week as the two-week Noche De Los Grandes event gets underway.
