Hardys promise to win back the tag titles
The Hardys are out to a big reaction; they were changed after the Wicked Garden and poisoned them, forcing them to evolve and ascend. Jeff Hardy is no longer the same and has been “rebroken my fate” with Matt, promising to win back their tag titles at Slammiversary in the ladder match.
The Righteous come out and explain how they walked them “through the garden” and showed all versions of the Hardys. They were being pelted by “what?” chants. Matt said they have opened something more “insidious” inside of them.

Brian Myers and Bear Bronson join the segment and refer to the four as “freaks”. Bronson said The System doesn’t care who any of them are, and they see guys blinded by their ego trying to take food off his table, so he’ll eat them alive (which sounds like a fair trade). It inevitably broke down into a brawl, and the Hardys introduced a ladder. While the others fought, Jeff climbed the ladder inside the ring, but the others retreated as the Hardys stared down their opponents.
Great Hands added to Ladder Match
Daria Rae is backstage and meets with Order 4 and explains she is working on Mustafa Ali’s match for Slammiversary. She is rewarding the Great Hands (Jason Hotch & John Skyler) by placing them into the ladder match on Sunday, and it’s now a four-way match.
M by Elegance vs. Mara Sadé
The Concierge introduced Ash by Elegance for her first singles match in 304 days. Indi Hartwell is on commentary with Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt.
Ash screamed into the microphone, “I am not a mark,” and needed another mental health break. She summons M by Elegance to take her spot in the match, and the match begins.
Elayna Black walks to the ring and mocks Ash on her way backstage.
Heather distracted Sadé on the turnbuckle, allowing M to hit the Tower of Elegance for a two-count. Indi Hartwell got involved in going after Heather, prompting Black to go after Indi. There was way too much going on. Black knocked Sadé off the top turnbuckle, and the DQ was called in 5:30.
All the women fought in the ring with Heather and M pounding on Hartwell, and Black fighting Sadé. So, Rosemary and Allie came down to go after the Knockouts tag champions and their opponents at Slammiversary. I think 75% of the Knockouts’ roster was involved over the past six minutes.
Eric Young had a taped promo running down Ricky Sosa and discrediting the value of “viral videos”. Young said, “There are rules in wrestling; they aren’t written down anywhere, but they’re still enforced.” He may make Sosa better, or he’ll run away, and it’s a test for him on Sunday. There are levels to this!
AJ Francis vs. Manny Lemons
Francis ate some punches and caught Lemons off the buckle and tossed him off his shoulders across the ring. Francis said, “Hey Drifter, watch this,” and did the Walk with Elijah across the top rope. Lemons attacked Moose with several clotheslines, but was murdered by the TFL and Down Payment in 3:10.
Elijah appears on the screen and called him a “fat-headed loudmouth” and a “no skill Uncle Phil”. He is a “clout chasing phony,” and his jealousy will be the death of him because he’ll never be Elijah. “I’ve spoken to the TNA lawyers,” and burnt the cease-and-desist notice, and has the chance to obtain his NAME, IMAGE, and LIKENESS on Sunday. Yes, Elijah has the chance to have more rights than most full-time wrestlers.
Xia Brookside vs. Harley Hudson
Hudson began doing push-ups when she entered the ring, and Brookside, rightfully, dropped an elbow on her. Hudson got the last laugh, grounding Brookside and doing push-ups on her back.
Hudson used a hip attack and rolling forearm, but missed with a leg drop off the turnbuckle. Brookside struck her with a head kick and hit the Darkside DDT and won the match in 5:34.
Brookside continued to attack Hudson, and Léi Yǐng Lee came down to send Brookside out of the ring ahead of their Knockouts title match on Sunday.
The injury report lists Ash by Elegance out “due to a mental health break,” and the medical staff is PREPARED for Sunday’s Ultimate X and ladder matches. They are forecasting injuries.
TNA Championship Summit
The segment is hosted by Gia Miller and seated with Mike Santana, Nic Nemeth, and Carlos Silva. They are warned to “keep it professional”.
Nemeth said Santana had “one good year,” but Nemeth has had “twenty-three good years” (wasn’t he Chavo’s caddy?), and it’s time for Santana’s run to end. Santana responds that he’s been fighting his entire life, saw his mother abused, identified his father in the morgue, and told his daughter he was a drug addict. His title is bigger than pro wrestling, and it’s his life. Santana accuses Nemeth of showing up and proclaiming he was “TNA”, but Santana really is that guy, while Nemeth is going off on tours of Australia (take that, World Series Fighting). Nemeth mentions his daughter and adds, “at least your father isn’t around to see you fail,” and Santana asks Silva, “cash or cheque?” as he decks Nemeth. Ryan Nemeth gets involved and allows Nic to jump Santana and bash his head into the desk.

A very good segment going into the pay-per-view. They announced after the break that Santana was taken to the hospital with an update before the end of the show. Glad they didn’t decide to have a fireball shoot out of the contract.
No Surrender at Slammiversary
Moose and JDC come to the ring, and Moose says the only way his match with Eddie Edwards ends is by one of their loved ones determining they’ve had enough.
Edwards and Alisha come out and call Moose a “cancer” in The System and cut it out to rebuild the group.
JDC has known Edwards for twenty-five years, and pro wrestling is making him sick in the head. He’ll lose everyone, including his daughter, and Alisha takes over. She brags about playing Moose because he’s a “fool” and dares him to strike her if he has balls. JDC talks Moose out of the ring, and he charges back after being called a coward. JDC holds Moose back as Edwards proclaims it ends on Sunday, and Alisha would rather “die than throw in that towel” as Moose promises a funeral.

Cedric Alexander, Mr. Elegance & Frankie Kazarian vs. Fabian Aichner, KC Navarro & Leon Slater
They promoted Amazing Red returning to TNA for the first time in fifteen years in the Ultimate X match with these six.
Slater and Aichner landed planchas as Navarro hit a suicide dive into a swinging DDT on Alexander on the floor. The Concierge grabbed Navarro and had his hand stomped as a response.
They got the advantage on Slater through the commercial break, and he worked his way to the corner, but Aichner was yanked off the edge. Slater fought off the three and tagged Aichner. With Navarrao, they went for a Doomsday Device when Mr. Elegance saved. Navarro survived a backstabber by Kazarian and Michinoku Driver from Alexander.
Navarro hit Code Red as a nod to Amazing Red, and all six went fast and furious with moves ending when Slater hit the Swanton 450 to Mr. Elegance, but was caught with a bridging jackknife cover by the legal man, Kazarian.
Mike Santana Returns
Nic Nemeth closes the show with an update on Mike Santana and declares he’s never coming back, and the title should be presented to him. Ryan Nemeth is tossed out of the backstage area as a bloodied Santana appears with security following and keeping the two apart to end the show.

Final Thoughts
It was a fine go-home show to have all the noteworthy matches and performers accounted for during the last week of hype. The Mike Santana and Nic Nemeth segment worked well, and they did an effective job of promoting the Ultimate and ladder matches. The Hardys are so clearly the most popular act in the company and had an unbelievable reaction during their segment at the start.
It’s such an uphill climb, and Slammiversary has not generated a lot of buzz outside the confines of their loyal audience, and even those members will be tested with all the competition on Sunday against a TNA show with a high price tag. This Sunday is the first show since Tommy Dreamer’s exit, but I don’t sense curiosity buys based on that aspect with any interest in a new creative direction leading to people sampling the television program.
