Gunther and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis had to be separated in an angle during the WWE Night of Champions post-show.
The altercation took place after Sami Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther in the main event to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
During the post-show, Gunther confronted Aldis and blamed him for his failure to win the title. Gunther referenced his previous title match against Rhodes at Clash in Italy, where Rhodes retained after the referee missed Gunther’s foot under the bottom rope.
Gunther told Aldis:
Hey, you happy now, huh? Is that what you wanted? Listen, you screwed me over in Europe, you screwed me here. What is it with you, huh? What is it about you? Is it personal? You know what it is? You’re jealous. You would love to be in my position. You’re f—king jealous because you’re a failed wrestler. You have failed.
As the Austrian repeatedly poked him with his finger, Aldis warned Gunther not to touch him, saying: “Hey, don’t touch me. I told you, don’t touch me. You get one. Don’t f—king touch me.”
With the swearing blanked out of the broadcast, Aldis then shoved Gunther. Gunther responded by grabbing Aldis by the lapels and pinning him against a wall before officials stepped in to break them apart.

Before joining WWE, Aldis wrestled as Magnus in TNA and later became one of the central figures of the modern NWA, including a lengthy run with the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. He also held TNA’s top title in 2013 and was the first GFW Global Champion.
