Thekla took down a prominent name from rival promotion STARDOM on Sunday night.

AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla continued her lengthy reign on top of the division at this year’s Forbidden Door card, beating Starlight Kid from Joshi brand STARDOM.

While she took many of Starlight Kid’s top moves, including a pair of Divine Punishments (including one on the ring apron), as well as a top-rope moonsault, Thekla was able to survive and keep fighting on.

A spear from Thekla late in the match followed by a pair of curbstomps allowed her to earn the pinfall victory, ending the bout in 18 minutes.

Thekla declared war on prominent Joshi promotion STARDOM earlier this year, wanting to take out a company she spent years performing for. Thekla was booted from STARDOM over a year ago after getting “fired,” attacking company President Taro Okada before her departure from the promotion.

Thekla made a surprise appearance at STARDOM’s The Conversion pay-per-view event last weekend, showing up to attack Okada once again.

24-year-old Starlight Kid stepped up as a representative for STARDOM in this weekend’s title match. She has put together a decorated career in the Japanese company, including a 300-day run as the brand’s Wonder of STARDOM Champion.

Thekla whipped out a pair of shiny silver scissors after the match and cut Starlight Kid’s mask off her head. Adding insult to injury, she spat in the mask and then shoved it in the face of STARDOM President Okada, who was seated at ringside.

Thekla has carried AEW’s top women’s title since February, when she dethroned Kris Statlander in the second match of a trilogy between them. She has run through some of the company’s top names in the months that followed, beating Mina Shirakawa, Jamie Hayter, Alex Windsor, Hikaru Shida, and Thunder Rosa.
