The Grey Era Begins

WWE NXT from the Performance Center kicked off with new NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey cutting an in-ring promo, saying she was more nervous talking than in her title-winning match this past Sunday. Grey said that John Cena picking her for the Iron Survivor match put a lot of pressure on her, but no one puts more pressure on her than she does. She continued, saying that she looked at Lola Vice and her glam and thought that was what a champion looked like. She admitted that she wipes off half of the makeup that they put on her before she comes to the ring.

Grey concluded by saying she would take the Women’s division to another level and that she thrives on competition. This brought out the new Speed Champion, Wren Sinclair, who handed Grey a cake. This brought out Kelani Jordan, who asked for a shot at the Women’s title. Sinclair was jumped by Tatum Paxley and fought off to the back as Sinclair and Grey celebrated by eating the cake.

Keanu Carver attacked El Hijo del Vikingo backstage, and Vikingo was grabbing his knee as Robert Stone called for medical help.

Elsewhere backstage, Izzi Dame was talking with Zaria when music started playing. They opened a door behind them, and Lizzy Rain was listening to loud Van Halen knockoff music and screamed that she was making it rain.

Kelani Jordan complained to Robert Stone backstage about Tatum Paxley, and he made them the main event of the match. Keanu approached, and Stone made a match between him and EK Prosper for later tonight.

NXT Tag Team Championship

The first match of the night saw El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno challenging The Vanity Project for the NXT Tag Team titles. The challengers took control early on, taking the champions down with a dive to the floor as the show went to break. Afterward, the AAA stars had the match won, but Baylor put Smokes’ foot on the rope at the last second. The finish saw the Vanity Project retaining after a top rope stomp to the stomach combined with a reverse DDT for the win.

Robert Stone was surrounded by NXT tag teams politicking to get NXT tag title shots. Stone agreed that the titles should be defended and made a Fatal 4-Way match for next week with the winners getting a shot at Vanity Project. Stone told Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno to build up their wins in order to be in consideration

Mason Rook vs. Jackson Drake

Next, Mason Rook took on Vanity Project’s Jackson Drake, with the NXT tag champions still at ringside after their win in the prior match. Booker T’s phone went off during the match, and Kam Hendrix appeared on screen and somehow through the arena audio as well. Hendrix said he would be back soon. This was embarrassingly bad. After a commercial, Rook was in control, but Drake turned things around with a Handspring Cutter off the ropes.

Drake then hit a springboard moonsault double stomp, in an impressive spot for a near fall. Drake then hit a Poisonrana in another impressive spot. Rook hit a Powerbomb on Drake, but he kicked out at the last second. Vanity Project then got involved, and Myka Lockwood held Rook’s foot down after Drake hit him with a backstabber to pick up the win. After the match, Rook attacked Vanity Project, sending them packing.

EK Prosper was talking with Tate Wilder backstage, and Wilder hyped him up ahead of his match, which was now with Keanu Carver instead of El Hijo del Vikingo.

Kali Armstrong entered Robert Stone’s office and wanted a title shot. Stone said he couldn’t just hand out title shots and said that actions speak louder than words.

EK Prosper vs. Keanu Carver

EK Prosper took on Keanu Carver next, with El Hijo del Vikingo being attacked and taken out by Carver at the top of the show. Prosper took it to Carver out of the gate with his high-flying offense.

Carver turned things around during a commercial break and was in complete control as the show returned. The match progressed, and Carver slammed Prosper on the announce desk. Tank appeared and threw Carver into the ring barrier, which the official somehow missed. Carver just barely made it back to the ring before the ten count, and Prosper hit a moonsault for the win.

Kendal Grey was backstage with Robert Stone, saying she would give Kali Armstrong a title match, but Stone said no. Strong noted that he made a #1 Contenders Fatal 4-Way match for the Women’s North American title between Izzy Dame, Lizzy Rain, Thea Hail, and Layla Diggs. Nattie entered with Layla Diggs, Nikita Lyons, and Karmen Petrovic, saying they were all earning their title shots. Nattie said she deserved a title match, and Stone made it official for next week.

Jaida Parker vs. Karmen Petrovic

Next, Jaida Parker took on Karme Petrovic, accompanied by Nattie, Nikita, and Layla. Parker was in control early on but was distracted by the three on the outside, allowing Petrovic to take control. A short while later, Nattie took a cheap shot on Parker behind the referee’s back and then took out her frustrations on Petrovic back in the ring. Parker hit the Deja Vu for the win, staring Nattie down during the pin.

Tatum Paxley was backstage with Shiloh Hill, and they discussed how at least Shiloh had a good night at Great American Bash. They agreed that it was good to tap into their dark side, but Tatum was happy to see the happy Shiloh back. Tatum left, and Niko Vance entered and said it was good that she was gone, and they were going to pick off weak superstars one by one.

Tavion Heights interrupted a conversation between Wren Sinclair and North American champion Myles Borne backstage and said Best friends stick together. Borne said that’s what he’d been trying to tell him, then walked off.

Tony D’Angelo Promo

Tony D’Angelo was out next with his eye still covered and cut a promo talking about how he was fine with risking his health for the NXT Championship. D’Angelo said he was done with Naraku and said no one is worthy enough to be his next opponent. As he was walking ot the back, Kendal Grey came out, and the two fist bumped, as she was on her way to the ring for commentary during the main event. Naraku appeared, attacking D’Angelo with a chair, slamming him on it as officials ran out to stop the attack.
