United States Champion Trick Williams defeated Laredo Kid during the Countdown to WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden.

The match began a few minutes into the pre-show, which was hosted by Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon. Michael Cole and Corey Graves called the action from ringside.

Williams used his size advantage early and tore a piece from Laredo Kid’s mask before throwing it into the audience.

Laredo responded with his speed and aerial offense, landing a missile dropkick and a Phoenix Splash from the corner. The AAA wrestler then targeted Williams’ knee and applied a half Boston crab.

Williams escaped and changed the momentum with a neckbreaker, followed by a flapjack and a heavy chop. Laredo later countered an attempted Book End into a pinning combination, but could only secure a two-count.

After sending Williams outside, Laredo launched himself from the top of the ring post. He then attempted another aerial attack after returning Williams to the ring.

Williams intercepted him with the Trick Shot and scored the pin.

  • After the match, Oba Femi gave a brief interview to Stephanie McMahon in the ring. He said that he was would not be locked in Hell in a Cell with Brock Lesnar, but it was the other way around.
